What do you need to do this semester to be successful in English III?

What could I (Ms. Bennett) do to help you succeed in English III?

If you could choose anything to study, read, or discuss that relates to American literature, what would you choose?

Journal 2

Consider the bevy of awards available to the world’s high achievers: the Nobel Peace Prize for contributing to world peace, the Webby for web design, the Clio for advertising, the Oscar for the film industry, the Tony for theater, the Emmy for television, the Pulitzer Prize for writing, the Grammy for music, the Cy Young for pitching– the list goes on and on. If you could be presented with one of these prestigious awards, which one would you choose? Why? Describe the specific accomplishment that would win you the award.

Henry David Thoreau

Thoreau urges us to follow our instincts rather than mindlessly rushing to compete with our

peers. Do you know someone (possibly yourself) who marches to the beat of a

different drummer? How does this person live differently from others? Do other people

consider this person weird or misguided?
