• Good for maintaining fair market conditions e.g. insulation standards, energy use standards etc!

• Clumsy and less effective for controlling human behaviour!

Controlling Regulations (when applied to human behaviour)!

• Require learning and memorising!• Often counter-intuitive (that’s why you have a rule)!• Require enforcement by third parties!• Offer no reward for compliance (just avoid penalty)!• Make poor use of the brain’s remarkable abilities!• Usually inefficient in terms of movement capacity (but sometimes more predictable)!• Undermine community interaction and often result in negative social behaviour!
