We all get let down and disappointed by either situations or people ... the question is, what do you do about that?

Transcript of 20111016 Ive been let down 2

Luke 17: 4 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

JESUS 1st [6/11]‘I’ve been let down’ – Part 2

Who ?

I’ve been let down …

How ?

Why ?

What ?

Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.”

Luke 17: 1

“If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

Luke 17: 3-4

Who ?

I’ve been let down…

- Somebody else (parents, family, friends)- The Church (Leaders)

- God

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,    but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

Proverbs 13: 12

Do not fret because of those who are evil    or be envious of those who do wrong; 2 for like the grass they will soon wither,

like green plants they will soon die away.  3 Trust in the LORD and do good;    dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Take delight in the LORD,    and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37: 1-4

Is the Jesus you are believing in the Jesus of the Bible … or one of your own imagining ?

Who ?

I’ve been let down…

- Somebody else (parents, family, friends)- The Church (Leaders)

- God- Myself

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’

Luke 10: 27

Who ?

I’ve been let down …

How ?

- Accidentally- Ignorantly or thoughtlessly- Deliberately

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Matthew 5: 43-44

Who ?

I’ve been let down …

How ?

- God is Sovereign- We’re not protected from others

sins - We sin and make our own ‘stupid’ mistakes

Why ?

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Matthew 6: 31-34

What ?- So what are we meant to do

about it ?

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Matthew 6: 9-15
