Ronseal Ultra Tough HardglazeRonseal Ultra Tough Hardglaze is a superiorpolyurethane gloss varnish which protects interiorwood whilst adding depth to the beauty of thewood grain. The polyurethane - alkyd formulationprovides long lasting protection against knocksand scratches and resists most householdchemical spillages including boiling water andalcohol. The high content of polyurethane in thevarnish ensures quicker hardness and abrasionbuild up than other solvent based varnishes. Theextended working time eliminates lap marks todeliver a rich, clear, mellow finish that enhancesthe beauty of the wood.

PreparationEnsure all surfaces are free from wax, greaseand oil by wiping with a cloth dampened withwhite spirit. Barewood: Sand smooth with finesandpaper. Remove dust with a cloth dampenedwith white spirit. Varnished wood: Removeunsound varnish. Sand well to a uniformappearance and clean with white spirit. Allowto dry thoroughly. Avoid inhaling dust whensanding by wearing a suitable face mask.

ApplicationStir well before and during use. Apply in a warm,well-ventilated room. Using a brush, apply 2 or 3coats. Brush out evenly and finish each coat inthe direction of the grain. Leave 4 hours betweencoats. Before final coat, lightly rub down usingfine sandpaper and wipe with white spirit.

Clean UpClean brushes with white spirit or paint brushcleaner. Remove as much varnish as possiblefrom the brush before cleaning. Some localauthorities have special facilities for disposingof waste coatings. Do not empty into drainsor watercourses.

ImportantDo not use on plastic type materials. Certaintropical woods may prolong drying timesor cause poor adhesion. Always teston a small area first. Polyurethanevarnishes may darken the colourof bare wood & dyed wood.Special precautions shouldbe taken during surfacepreparations of pre-1960s paintsurfaces over wood and metalas they contain harmful lead.Drying times may be extendedwhen using over Colron WoodDye.
