History of creation of STOP TB Partnership, Tajikistan
Motivations:
• The need for joined efforts to fight TB;• The voices and the needs of TB patients and their family
members did not fully reach the decision makers;• There are many success stories of TB treatment, but few people
know about them;• Participation of Naimov Safar and Mirzorakhimov Naimjon at the TB Regional network meeting/training, on 21-25 April 2014, Kiev, Ukraine;• The support of National TB Program Coordinator and Project Hope.

As a result:• On July 30, 2014 the inauguration conference of “STOP TB
Partnership, Tajikistan”, the Coalition uniting the people with TB, their family members and the organizations working to fight TB, took place.

Vision:• "Our vision (main goal) is Tajikistan free of
tuberculosis".
Objective: • "Decreasing the transmission of TB, the burden of TB, and
human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/TB, and prevent the increase of TB cases with multiple and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (M/XDR-TB) in the country."

Mission: • Active involvement in:
o Development of action plan and monitoring programs to
protect the population from TB;
o Raising public awareness about TB to improve TB case
detection and reduce stigma;
o Provision of services to people affected by TB
(especially women) and their family members including
treatment, care and psycho-social support throughout
the long course of treatment.

Mission: • Active involvement in:
o Increasing treatment adherence among patients with TB and M / XDR-TB by facilitating their access to high-quality diagnosis, treatment and the provision of support for treatment adherence.
o Protecting the health rights of vulnerable population affected by TB, HIV / TB and M / XDR-TB.
o Conducting researches in the field of TB.

The workshop triggered many ideas for action, including:Creation of Action Committee (AC) which would participate in discussions at all levels, represent TB patients and communities in the CCM etc. AC would serve as a “bridge” to fill gap between health systems and TB patients and communities while helping national TB program on:
• Providing psychological support to MDR patients; • Monitoring the treatment process for adherence; • New case detection-guiding people who have TB
symptoms to visit doctors;• Helping to return the lost to follow-up cases; • Raising awareness about TB and its prevention; • Reducing stigma and discrimination in and around TB.

STOP TB Partnership, Tajikistan in international programs/events
• A member of Secretariat of STBPT, MDR TB survivor became member of WHO European Technical Advisory Group on Tuberculosis Control (TAG- TB), and worked as a member of Advisory Committee for the development of the “Tuberculosis Action Plan for the WHO European Region, 2016-2020”.
• WHO Review of the National TB programme for TB control in Georgia as a focal point for Civil society involvement, ethics and human rights, public-private partnerships and ACSM.
• 45th World Conference on Lung Health, Barcelona, Spain. Presentation: Involving people affected by the disease: a key aspect of the fight against TB in the European region.
• World TB Day 2014, event organized by WHO Regional Office for Europe Copenhagen, Denmark.
• World TB Day 2015 at US Institute of Peace, Washington DC and other meetings at:
- Senates and Representatives in Capitol Hill, Washington DC; - Centre for Health Security, Centre for Global Development, - Medical Centre UT Southwestern GHIG , Dallas, Texas, USA.
