Members have been busy making quilts and items for prizes at our quilt and craft show which is on the Mother’s Day weekend of May 13 and 14 at the Bob Wood Cultural Hall, Anzac Street, Sarina. Open from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday. Our theme for the show is honouring mothers. Lunch, morning and afternoon tea of sandwiches, cakes, scones, pikelets and slices will be available. Water and soft drinks will also be available.

Along with the members quilts on display there will be a display of art quilts from Queensland Quilters in Brisbane. A viewers’ choice of members quilts will be selected by the public. Some of the traders attending are:> Howards Drapery> Big Red Bus> Iddy Biddy> The Fabric Nook from Biloela> Mix and Match design from Bundaberg

> Molly Dookes> Needleworx> Mackay Sewing Service> Echidna will demonstrate Brother sewing machines> Also our local Bobbin ‘n Sew.

Margaret Olive from Patchwork Paradise is our guest tutor and demonstrator who will present a trunk show. A stall of Fibre Arts members work will have items for sale.

There will be lucky spot draws during the two days, a lucky door prize drawn on Sunday and multi draws on both days.Our quilt made by members will be raffled and drawn on Sunday also. Admission is $7 and each person will receive a complimentary gift.

This is a local community event which is open to all ages and families. Come along and meet with friends over a tea or coffee, peruse the displays and take advantage of purchasing from the stall holders supplies on sale.

Over the last few months we have welcomed new members to our group. New and interested ladies are always welcome to come along on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9am to noon.

Sarina Historical Centre apologies for any inconvenience caused by our closure over the last few weeks but the problems with the building have now been fixed and we have reopened. We are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am to 2pm.

We continue to look for people who might like to volunteer some of their time to help us open more days each week. Come down to the museum or call us on 0415 533 314.

Giant Day Of Garage SalesSunday, May 21 Advance Notice

The Sarina Beach progress Association & Campwin Beach are running their annual Giant garage Sales again this year. Last year over 40 houses took part.

HOW IT WORKS > From May 5 we will ask you to register at the Sarina Beach Store. Registration is $10

> We will publicise the day across the whole region with roadside signs, media etc. Being a community organisation we can do this at no extra cost to you.

>People coming to the sales will be asked to call at the Shop/Servo at Sarina Beach on the day and pick up a free map showing the location of all registered houses. There will be a sausage sizzle at the Sarina Beach store from 7.30am until around 11am.

WHAT NOW > Start putting things aside.

A Mens Stopping Violence Program

Choosing change is a group based program that provides the opportunity for you to take responsibility for your use of abusive behaviours in intimate and family relationships (all relationships cover under the Qld DFV Act 2012). The aim of the program is to help you develop and maintain respectful attitudes and behaviours within your family.

Change can be challenging and confronting and in the program we support and guide you on a path to effective change over a 20 week period.

Sarina & Campwin Beaches 10th Annual Giant Garage Sale

The Sarina Beach Progress Association including Campwin Beach are holding their annual garage sale on Sunday, May 21 at 7.30am.

Last year we had over 40 houses registered for a sale. We hope to see lots of people coming to Sarina Beach for a bargin.

Registration is open from the May 5 -20 for a garage sale at your home. Just come to the Sarina Beach store/servo. Registration is $10.

People wishing to come to the sales are asked to call into the Sarina Beach store/servo to get a map of all the garage sales that morning. A sausage sizzle will be held at the store carpark from 7.30am until sold out. Last year this was a huge success.

Proceeds from the garage sale registration and sausage sizzle will be put towards ongoing projects for the club. Even if you don’t buy anything come along to one of the nice patrolled beaches around and see what we have to offer, or purchase something from the take away menu at the Sarina beach store/inlet cafe (our sponsors). There is also a sea side park to enjoy for all the family. So follow the signs to Sarina Beach and get a bargin or two. All enquiries call 4956 6677 or 0418 980 549.
