With December behind us, we can officially welcome 2013 and (in a few weeks) the Year of the Snake! It will be hard to beat the success of Aqua in 2012, as the tourism market helped our properties achieve success at unprecedented levels. Most of this success was led by the hard work of our team members at the home office and the properties. Thus, January’s 2013 Na Poe Paahana (“the hard working people”) awards will be something of a coming out party as Aqua’s reigning industry Manager of the Year, Lynette Eastman, will lead the opening blessing. Aqua also has what is believed to be the highest number of honorees of any company in Hawaii with 47 nominees. January also brought our first new property of the new year. Officially joining the Aqua family is the Waikiki Joy on Lewers Street. We will be fully renovating the property later this year before launching it as a more upscale member of Aqua’s family. We will also be renovating December’s new addition, the Polynesian Plaza. With a full renovation and an expected room rate of approximately $250/night, the Polynesian Plaza will be a part of our Monogram (see below) collection. These two renovations join the ongoing or recently completed renovations of Aqua Skyline at Island Colony, Aqua Park Shore Waikiki, Aqua Ilikai Hotel & Suites, and the upcoming renovations at Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki. Specifically, we will be forming three operating divisions to reflect the diversity of our properties. Our luxury and upscale properties, each with a distinct name and identity, will be part of our new Monogram™ Collection. We will be paring down the Aqua properties to a core group of 3 and 3.5 star properties under the Aqua Hotels and Resorts® brand. Finally, our budget and local properties will be offered under the Lite™ Hotels brand. Later this year, we will be re-opening of Volcano House, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most sacred places in all of Hawaii. We view this as a chance to give back to Hawaii, along with mid-2013’s other big announcement, the formal launch of our foundation, Aqua Blue. NEW ADDITIONS TO THE AQUA OHANA IN 2012 In 2012, Aqua Hotels and Resorts was the only Hawaii hotel company that increased their portfolio by five hotels on four islands: Ewa Hotel Waikiki and Polynesian Plaza in Oahu, Kauai Sands on Kauai, Maui Beach Hotel on Maui and Volcano House on Hawaii Island. This brings the total number of hotels to 23 with one more coming on board in January, making it 24.

The 206-room Kauai hotel sits on six acres of lush lawns and tropical gardens. The comfortable accommodations include island-style décor and private lanais. POLYNESIAN PLAZA, December
The 55-room Polynesian Plaza located at 2131 Kalakaua Ave. It is a charming oasis in the heart of Waikiki, just one block to Waikiki Beach. Comfortable studios and one-bedrooms feature private lanai balconies and fully-equipped kitchenettes with 2-burner stovetops, microwaves, and mini-refrigerators. A secluded outdoor swimming pool and sundeck provide the perfect setting for island leisure. The property is scheduled to undergo complete renovations in 2013 – no details are available at this time. The intimate 93-room boutique hotel currently features an open-air lobby and comfortable guest rooms and suites.
