Making Half Square Triangles

1. Place two pairs of Background and Light Medium squares right sides together with Background on top.

Stacks of two in each color.

2. Place three pairs of Light Medium and Dark squares right sides together with Medium on top.

3. Draw diagonal line corner to corner.

4. Assembly-line sew ¼" seam from both sides of diagonal line.

5. Cut in half on line.

6. For locking seams, set seam with Light Medium on top, open and press toward Light Medium.

V 7. Square blocks to 3½".

8. Make stacks of Half Square Triangles.

Sewing Block Together

1. Lay out block.

2. Flip second vertical row to first vertical row.

3. Stack vertical Row Three. Stack vertical Row Four.

4. Assembly-line sew first two verti­cal rows.

5. Open and sew remaining vertical rows.

6. From wrong side press seams in horizontal rows in opposite direc­nons.

7. Sew horizontal rows together lock­mg seams.

8. Press just sewn rows in one direction.

9. Make six blocks of each color way for a total of twenty-four blocks.

Sewing Top Together

1. Layout blocks in rows, four across and six down.

2. Assembly-line sew vertical rows of quilt top together.

3. Sew remaining horizontal rows pushing seams in opposite directions so every seam locks.

Finishing the Quilt

1. Sew 2" First Border to sides. Press seams toward Border. Trim.

2. Sew First Border to top and bottom. Press seams toward Border. Trim.

3. Repeat with 5" Second Border.

4. Layer, quilt, and bind.
