JTI is a family-owned company specializing in carefully crafted small group tours and bespoke holidays to India, Bhutan and Nepal. Having started as a destination specialist of Northeastern India, JTI has evolved over the years to offer experiential tours in select areas of India, Bhutan and Nepal. Recognized for good service and word-of-mouth recommended tours, JTI is also known for its award-winning products – the superbly appointed Diphlu River Lodge, and its pioneering long-distance river cruises on the Ganges, Hugli and Brahmaputra rivers. As a testament to our passion for these destinations, JTI was awarded the National Tourism Award.

Jungle Travels India have been handling FIT’s and small group tours to India with specific focus on Eastern India for more than two decades. We are active members of Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) & TAAI( Travel Agents Association of India), Tour Operators for Tigers (www.toftigers.org), CII (Confederation of Indian Industries), ICC (Indian Chamber of Commerce) and we are also members of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) - India chapter. Jungle Travels India is the first IATA accredited Travel Company of North East India.

In a tiny back-room with nothing more than a telephone, a thick index of flights and a solid knowledge of the destination, husband-wife traveler duo Ashish and Jahnabi Phookan established JTI. That was 1989. Today, after 25 years of organizing successful tours, a lot of hard work and learning along the way; and the sheer passion for doing what we do. JTI has expanded into representative offices in New Delhi, Kolkata and Cochin and works closely with our select partners in Bhutan and Nepal. Our sister company, Assam Bengal Navigation, pioneered long-distance River cruising in India in 2003. For this, we were awarded another National Tourism Award. Our jungle lodge, Diphlu River Lodge was adjudged as the 2nd best wildlife lodge in India by Lonely Planet magazine in 2013.

“Anyone who has travelled by train or plane through India, or who has been driven on Indian roads, will be amazed to learn that there is actually a way to travel through the country in total serenity and comfort. It is in fact possible to cruise for some 1750 miles on the rivers and inland waterways of India, passing through great cities, alongside wildlife sanctuaries and historical monuments, and into the heart of rural India.”

Assam Bengal Navigation has been the pioneer in opening up this mode of travel and these words from our first brochure in 2003 remain true today. Our expertise in river cruising is still unmatched.

Assam Bengal Navigation Co., an Indo-British joint venture with offices in India and the UK, launched India’s first-ever long-distance river cruises on the Brahmaputra River in Assam in 2003. In 2007 we launched river cruises on the Hugli River in West Bengal, and in 2010 we commenced cruises on the Ganges, up from the Hugli junction through Bihar to Patna. On 15th February, 2014 our third vessel ABN Rajmahal was launched on the Ganges from Kolkata to Patna and then sailed up to Varanasi in the month of August 2014.

As you explore the local markets of Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Kolkata, Hyderabad or Chennai , you will relish every moment of your India experience.

The Wild Life Experience in India

Not much can come close to that feeling when you spot an animal in the wild, especially when you’re not expecting it. As you explore the jungles of Kanha National Park or Bandhavgarh National Park on your jeep safaris or you try to spot wildlife as you embark on a boat ride in Lake Periyar in Kerela you will realize India has much to offer when it comes to wildlife. history since 1000 B.C, the city was first referred to as 'Agra' by

the Greek philosopher, Ptolemy in 200 A.D.
