WHAT IS AN ADVERTORIAL? An advertorial is an advertisement that looks similar to a magazine article and presents content in an editorial-like format. Advertorials tell a story that can be used to promote a company, product or service. An advertorial is a good way to communicate to readers more content than a traditional advertisement.
THINGS TO CONSIDER To create an effective advertorial, consider the goal of the advertorial and the key message to be communicated. Here are a few points to consider before placing an advertorial:
• Is there a product, service or technology you wish to highlight?
• What are the benefits of this product or technology?
• Can you include testimonials or a case study where the product or technology has been used?
• What images or other graphical elements e.g. charts can you add to enhance your message?
FORMAT
1. Advertorials are limited to one page in length. ASPHALTopics will publish only one advertorial per magazine edition.
2. Word count for an advertorial may be up to 500 words depending on the number of graphic elements.
3. It is recommended that no more than two graphic elements, which would include graphs and or charts, be included in the advertorial.
4. A template for ASPHALTopics advertorials will be provided, which will include the word “advertorial” in the header.
5. The company logo must appear on the page.
6. The advertorial must not refer to itself as an “article”.
7. All products or messages must be congruent with OAPC’s vision to promote excellence in asphalt product quality and paving techniques.
PROCESS
1. All advertorials will be submitted to OAPC for approval. OAPC reserves the right to refuse any advertorial.
2. Submittals should include any content and high resolution images or graphics to be used.
3. Once approved, the advertorial will be edited for style and grammar by ASPHALTopics ’ editor.
4. The advertiser will have the opportunity for final approval.
