Dr. Limin Kung, Jr. was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, receiving his BS and MS degrees in Animal Science from the University of Hawaii. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Dairy Nutrition from Michigan State University and spent a year in a postdoctoral appointment at the US Dairy Forage Research Center. Limin worked on the development of bovine somatotropin with Monsanto Co. before going to the University of Delaware in 1987 where he conducts research, teaches, and provides extension service to the dairy industry. Dedicating his career to improving efficiency in the dairy industry, his silage fermentation research is internationally recognized as he consults and lectures throughout the world. Specific areas of research have included identifying ways to improve digestibility and aerobic stability of silage.
Matt Schotsman originally from Cayuga, Ontario, has been a Ruminant Nutritionist at Floradale Feed Mill Limited since 2010. Matt attended the University of Guelph, completing his Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology. His interest in the nutrition and physiology of a variety of animals led to a Master of Science degree in Comparative Nutrition. Matt works primarily with dairy cattle but also deals with a variety of other species including beef and rabbit. Among other things his responsibilities include technical support for Floradale customers and personnel, oversight of the AMTS ration formulation program and special projects like the DHA Omega-3 milk program.
Lori Vickers grew up in Eastern Ontario but attended university in British Columbia where she received her B.Sc. in Agroecology from UBC in 2008. Upon completion of her B.Sc., Lori worked as a research assistant at the UBC Dairy Education and Research Centre in Agassiz. She took on her own thesis project and in 2011, received her MSc degree, studying transition dairy cow nutrition and behavior with the UBC Animal Welfare Program. Lori has been with Novus since March 2012 serving as a territory manager for western Canada. In addition, she has been implementing the Novus COWS program in Canada and has performed on farm cow comfort assessments on over 30 farms across Canada.
Dr. Gianina Costache lives in Braila, Romania. She attended the University of Agricultural and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest-Romania obtaining her Engineer Diploma, her Master’s degree and her Ph.D., all with a strong emphasis on cow feeding, milk physiology, milk quality and processing. Gianina took on a postdoctoral position at SLU Uppsala, Sweden where she studied the effect of increased SCC on milk quality and overall cow health. She joined Vitfoss in 2008 and is currently the Product Manager & Nutritional Consultant for the Ruminant International Group. Her responsibilities include research development and technical support as well as the development and technical implementation of the X Zelit product… a new look at close-up dry cow feeding.
