L'ALPHABET
• The letters within the French Alphabet are the same as they are in the English one.The difference lies in the pronunciation.
• what about all those characters with funny lines on...
• Well these are called Accents and this is one of the most notable differences between written English and French.
LES ACCENTS:
• É The aigu accent • È The grave accent • Ê The circumflex accent
The French alphabet and those 26 (and a few) sounds!
• From the earlier lesson you should now be able to see that some words are the same! However in French you must pronounce (say!) them differently.
• In French if the last letter of a word is an E, it is not pronounced unless it has an accent on it. Notice the last E in Pirate is silent, but you can hear the T!
