Activity 1
The Lightkeeper A ship is heading for the rocks, but the light house is not working. The Lighthouse keeper tries in vain to get the lamp working in tragic circumstances. Something unexpected happens and the light house becomes bright again.

Watch the video and have a go at one of the activities:
• Write a newspaper story of the event (include interviews with light-housekeeper, villagers, and men from the boat) - remember to use the features of a newspaper – Eye catching title, sub-headings, Introductory paragraph including the 5Ws (Who, When, Where, What, Why), third person and past tense, direct and reported speech.
• Write some dialogue for the film – remember to punctuate correctly and only use dialogue to show character or move action on.
• Create a story board of key events. • Write your own story where the problem is solved in a different way -
remember to: Use a range of cohesive devices, including adverbials • Use some punctuation for clarity and to create meaning • Include dialogue to show characterisation/move action along • Use a range of sentence structures. Remember to include suspense (short sentences, empty words) • Ambitious vocabulary (use a thesaurus – if you don’t have a thesaurus use an online alternative).
