As operators look to optimise existing facilities to increase output, our Production Assurance team is solving complex challenges that ultimately benefit the bottom line.
From flow assurance and production chemistry, to production technology and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), our Perth-based specialists delve deep to deliver practical, engineered solutions. We strive to push the boundaries of advanced engineering to help clients optimise their producing assets from wellbore to point-of-sale. Our focus is on measurable outputs that can be easily understood rather than simply presenting simulation results.
We bring an independent perspective and look at a problem from every angle, engaging all stakeholders to come up with robust solutions. By integrating our multidiscipline expertise, we support clients in tackling production and integrity issues from erosion to slugging, solids deposition to hydrate management across the asset lifecycle, and can provide insight to the resolution of potential late-life or life extension issues.
Our specialists are focused on optimisation and can review historical data for potential areas for investigation and improvement. Using a small team approach to minimise client input and resources, we take a forensic view of anomalies to pinpoint the cause of losses and offer rational guidance on how to move forward.
The first step is a quick review to see if our team can add value and we then assemble the right cross-discipline expertise needed to address the issues, ultimately increasing efficiency and uptime and boosting production.

As well as using Aspen toolkits to link HYSYS (steady state and dynamic) to multiphase pipeline simulators (such as PIPESIM, OLGA, PROSPER and GAP) and to Microsoft Excel, Xodus develops custom links to control systems, leveraging the Component Object Model (COM) and Object Linking and Embedding for Process Control (OPC) communication protocols.
Xodus has also delivered an industry first by using a dynamic process simulation at the heart of an allocation system, reading in-plant data to the model then calculating and publishing allocation reports to a client’s intranet.
As part of our client-centred approach we focus on developing visual interfaces to simulations to allow non-expert user interaction and ‘what if’ analysis.

Xodus has developed methods to maximise the value returned from the visual representation and use of real-time and historical data. Using our clients’ preferred visualisation software e.g. BabelFish, P2 Explorer, Plant View, PI ProcessBook, or Uniformance, we distil vast quantities of data into readily accessible tools for pro-active monitoring and optimisation of facility performance. Work can get underway by simply mimicking offshore Distributed Control System (DCS) screens while other clients may require more sophisticated techniques to generate calculated data based on limited availability of instrumentation.
We have developed online tools including virtual metering of process and flare streams, compressor performance monitoring, Triethylene Glycol (TEG) system troubleshooting and electrical submersible pump optimisation.

Our team of engineers offers a highly experienced capability in subsea analysis to support operators and Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPC&I) contractors. Specific areas of expertise include analysis of flexible pipelines and umbilicals as well as rigid pipelines and flowlines.
Our riser system in-place analysis includes feasibility studies, flexible pipe procurement support and configuration assessments. Our global riser analysis consists of a preliminary, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed design stage.
We provide detailed installation analysis of rigid pipes, flexibles and umbilicals and dynamic lift analysis of subsea structures. We also offer bottom roughness, free span assessment and crossing design as part of our rigid pipeline analysis, as well as global finite-element buckling analysis (upheaval and lateral buckling) and bottom stability analysis.
Our Perth-based specialists apply these specialist skills on projects worldwide. Xodus Group’s integrated approach enables our Perth team to draw on our worldwide pool of experts for additional support and broader capabilities to meet project requirements.

Vibration problems associated with both static and rotating equipment can lead to significant reliability issues and plant downtime. This often results in significant remediation costs, associated loss of production, re-design and replacement of failed piping, investigation by regulatory authorities and potential damage to reputation.
Our vibration engineering specialists have international experience of helping oil and gas clients address their vibration issues, from troubleshooting fatigue issues and site surveys, to proactive office-based design and vibration control reviews. This is accomplished using a combination of on-site measurement and experience based inspection, detailed analysis, advanced modelling techniques and Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge.
For mature assets and life extension studies, our engineers adopt a risk based approach to vibration, focussing on safety and production critical systems. Then using our experience and expertise, we advise our clients on how to identify the vibration issues of greatest concern and provide advice on the most cost effective control strategies.
For new greenfield / brownfield developments or debottlenecking studies, we adopt a proactive approach to vibration assessment using, for example, the Energy Institute Guidelines, but augmented by many years of carrying out such studies. We are able to support our clients through the design, construction, commissioning and operational phases to minimise the risk of fatigue failures or reliability problems.
We can draw on multidisciplinary technical expertise and, where required, provide design solutions developed to ensure fitness for purpose in all aspects of operation. The support we provide helps to increase asset uptime, delivering substantial cost benefits.
