• There are various styles of music but the most well known is the tradition of drumming.

• Ghanaian Drum Ensemble:
• A group of percussion instruments - drums, shakers and bells - which are played together. The music comes from the West African country of Ghana. Here is an example of African drumming.

Where are the Caribbean Islands?
Caribbean (West Indies)
•There are many different types of music spread throughout the islands of the Caribbean
•More recently there has been the pop music of the region: Reggae, originating in Jamaica and made famous by Bob Marley in the 1960s and 70s
•Older than this is Calypso – the folk music of the Caribbean
The Steel Band consists of several steel pans or drums
These were originally made from upturned oil drums
The surface was heated and dented into the required “notes”
There are large bass steel drums, drums for the middle register notesAnd high sounding ones as well
