Words from the Commander….. Colonels and Friends- To say this will be my last article as your Commander is exciting and sad at the same time. I think we had a won-derful year but at the same time so many dreams and plan that just weren’t done. Instead of focusing on the negative let’s focus on the positive. There were so many great times through the year and so many great ac-complishments. Looking back we really did accomplish so much. It was a time of change, a time of togetherness, a time of new outlooks and hopefully a time to make us even better than ever. This year is definitely one for the record books. When I think of the Jaycees and the Corps I think of a community. The meaning of community is a group of people living in the same place or having similar characteristics in common or a feeling of fellowship with other. If that doesn’t describe us then I don’t know what does. We all have a common goal to grow a great community. With respect to all sides and hard work from all the organization will continue to do great things and help change lives. We gained new ground with the Jaycees. The Georgia Jaycees are on fire and so refreshing to see. I know times are different, people are different. Heck we are different. Jaycees are not made up of what we did they are made up of what they can do. Keep the stories coming as they truly do love to hear about the old times and old projects but at the same time respect their stories as well. They are doing such great things and impacting lives all over Georgia. We may not have the hundreds of peo-ple we used to have but we still have the need of 100’s of people in our communities. Our primary purpose as always is to help the Jaycees go change lives. Whether that be a child that needs toys for Christmas or a person that needs help with interview and job skills or just someone looking for something positive to do. The times are different but the needs are still the same. We must DREAM of ways to change the world, through skills taught in Jaycees PLAN how to accomplish that and by joining together DO because WE BELIEVE! I can’t say enough how great your Dream Team was to work with and for. I want to give a huge thank you to you all. You jumped in to commit to making this organization better and did just that. We may have not accomplished all we set out to do but man did we accomplish a lot. Your job is not over. I would like to encourage each of you to keep leading forward. This organization is not just one year but a lifetime. Continue to work hard and do what you can to make this family grow and suc-ceed. You are truly the best of the best and need to continue to shine! We have a great meeting planned in January. There will definitely be lots of love, laughs, good food and great times. I encour-age you all to come out and show this board and organization some love. We will celebrate many great accomplishments as well as look back on things that we could have done bigger and better. We will be having our hospitality room both Friday and Saturday nights, business meeting on Saturday morning where your new officers will be elected followed by a wonderful cock-tail party on Saturday afternoon/evening. The cocktail party will be a masquerade theme and should be a great time. We definitely have lots to celebrate! Thank you so much for allowing me to serve as your Commander this year. It has definitely not gone anything like I thought but man what a ride. Who knew 25 years ago when I walked into a meeting and barely could say my name out loud that one day would be helping to lead the best folks around. I couldn’t imagine my life without you all. THANK YOU for being you and for caring so much about this organization and about me. For whatever reason when writing this all I could think of is the clos-ing lines of The Breakfast Club- we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, The Breakfast Club. In the movie all walks of life are brought together one Saturday morning and forced to be together. After each has a chance to tell his or her story it makes the others see them and their world a little differently. In the simplest terms and most convenient definitions they are all different but together can do great things and have a great life! We as a group of Jaycees and Colonels are all different. We even each may want different things but we no matter what we all stick around to make impacts in the lives around us and in the communities we live in. Together we will continue to do great things. All you have to do is BELIEVE! Thank you and see you all soon! Kellie Jet 60th Commander

changes and the beginning of the next chapter in the Corps. We have new Colonels, and more in the pipe
line headed in, we are off in the right direction. As we look back to our history, we see great accomplish-
ments and feats of wonderment. As we look to the future, things are going to only get better from here. I
have been honored to serve the Corps this year and be part of the historic steps taken to insure our Great
Corps, the First Corps, The largest Corps, the Best Corps is here for the generations!
I know you have Jaycees that are in the back of you mind that are deserving and worthy of the title Colonel,
so let’s get them in the Corps. Now is the time to recognize them for their hard work and dedication and to
bring their Service to humanity to light!
To the Georgia Jaycees, we strive to work with you and help the organization we
all love in any way we can. Take the time to look through your chapters and rec-
ognize those who have done so much for your community and local chapter with

Words of the Treasurer…...
Hello fellow Colonels!
I hope you’re enjoying your Holiday season with your loved ones!
Thanks to those who have paid their dues this year. If you haven’t yet paid your dues this year, or
maybe you’re a few years out from being current on dues payments, don’t you fret! There is no late
fee, so your dues payment of $30 brings you totally current until next May. What a deal! I am still
accepting dues payments and will gladly take yo’ money in Statesboro at our next meeting January 18
-20, 2019. That seems so far from now, but will be here before we know it! Time flies when you’re
having fun! Details for this meeting are included else-
where in this publication. I hope to see you there!
Be on the lookout for more fun adventures in the
Corps! Hope to see you all soon! Until then, take care,
and hug the ones you love a little tighter and longer.
Tell and SHOW your loved ones you love them!
As always, if there is anything we can help you or your chapter with, please let your Corps staff know. I can be reached at [email protected] or 404.545.1923.

Words of the Active Vice-Commander…...
Hello fellow Colonels,
I know I say this every year at this time, but I just can’t believe that another year has
come to an end. It has been a whirlwind of a year, but I truly believe it has brought us
closer together as a group. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving as the Active Vice Com-
mander for the 2018 Dream Team, and I thank everyone for their support and participa-
tion in my various fundraising endeavors. We had a successful golf tournament and
cooler raffle, among others. Thank you to those people who went above and beyond to
help sell raffle tickets.
I learned a lot this year about the organization and I am proud to be a Colonel of the
Georgia Jaycee Honor Corps.

Always remember to fall asleep with a dream and wake up with a purpose!
I enjoyed seeing everyone in Newnan and look forward to ending the year
in Statesboro. I am here to get information out to everyone. If you know
a colonel who is not getting the newsletter, and wants one, one way or
another and you have an email address or address please let me know.
My goal this year is to get the information out to everyone who is interest-
ed.
If you would like to advertise in the next newsletter, please contact me for
information. Also if you are getting a newsletter in the mail and would like to receive it by
email instead, please let me know and I will get you on the edispatch list. The benefit for
doing edispatch is; 1) You get the newsletter in all its brilliant colors 2) You save the Corp
money 3) You help the environment by saving paper because after you read it. Do you really
keep it! 4) You have it electronically so you can reference back to it.
Your Adjutant,
Andrea Perry
First of all let me say what an honor and pleasure it has been to serve on this years Honor Corps staff!!! Thank you all for once again allowing me to serve this great organization! Parliamentary stuff.... Thus far not expecting too much in January but as always if there is discussion lets be respectful, civilized, and remember that we shall abide by Roberts rules. Sergeant at Arms stuff... Everybody behave and tell Bob Prater that I am the one who makes last call! LOL. In all seriousness, lets keep up the dress code, no denim, etc. I believe that we are expecting some new inductees so lets put our best foot forward, make a great 1st impression, and welcome them to the Corps!

As 2018 comes to a close, the Georgia Jaycees have had an exciting year! We added
chapters in Columbus and Jessup. We grew! 2018 will mark the first year of growth for
Georgia in several years. We started the year with 264 members and we are in the race
to finish 2018 with 300 members. We created an online document storage system for
our chapters through Google Drive.
We traveled a lot! Three members attended Leadership Training University (Charlotte
and Denver) and the National Convention in Myrtle Beach. Five members attended the
National Annual Meeting in Denver. The State Executive Committee has traveled to all
chapters at least once this year and multiple times for several chapters. Chapters are
working together.
Our chapters have served their communities well. Dahlonega and Gainesville ran very
successful festivals: Gold Rush Festival and the Mule Camp Festival; Athens hosted the
January Jog, the Twilight Bike Race and their biggest project Toys for Tots. Swainsboro
hosted the Pine Tree Festival. Jessup and Swainsboro both hosted community fairs.
Milledgeville ran the Splash and Dash River Float and gave back through the Thanksgiv-
ing Back project. Gray Just finished up with their annual Christmas parade. Columbus
made a huge leap this year contributing monthly to the Ronald McDonald House and
hosting their inaugural Golf Tournament. Savannah continues to lead through Junior
Jaycees and other projects. Atlanta is growing and has hosted monthly leadership
meetings with several guest speakers.
We are excited to be working with our Statesboro chapter to plan the 2019 State Con-
vention. The theme for the weekend is Going the Distance as we spend 2019 focusing
on training, growth and competition. At this convention, we will induct officers for the
State Executive Committee. The team will consist of Danielle Fields – President
(Milledgeville), Cynthia Wright – Vice President of Communication (Savannah), Katie
Harris – Vice President of Community Development (Statesboro) and Allen Farley – Vice
President of Membership (Swainsboro). Please join us for a great weekend!
Thank you for your continued support!
