To The Technical Support Staff at RB Connect
This slide show was created for the support staff at RB Connect (NameAreCheap) to illustrate the problems I am having when trying to upload and install a back-up file from a old blog site on to a new blog site.
Old WordPress Blog Site athttp://pastelpixels.com/detools_wp/
Administration Panel of Old Blog Site
Creating an export file on old blog site
Downloading export file from old blog site to my computer’s desktop
WordPress Export File now downloaded from my old blog site to my computer desktop
Logging in to the admin panel of of my new WordPress Blog hosted at RB Connect.
URL:http://www.detools.ca/
At the “Manage” panel of the WordPress admin area. I’m about to try importing the backup file I exported from my old blog.
I click on the “Import” option. The Import menu appears. From the Import menu I choose the WordPress option.
The “Import WordPress” window appears.I click on the “Browse” button to identify the
WordPress export file, on my computer’s desktop that I want to import.
I highlight the WordPress export file on my computer’s desktop that I want to import and click, “Open”.
I’m now ready to begin the Import process so I click on the “Upload file and import” button
After a few seconds, the following error message appears.
I have created a folder inside the httpdocs folder of the www.detools.ca account called, “wordpress_export_file, were I have placed a copy of my export file, “wordpress.2008-09-18.xml”. That’s the back-up file from my old blog site that I want uploaded to my new blog.
I’m not sure what other information you require to solve this problem.
Thank you for your help.
