Jonathan Dagenais holds a Master's degree in Conducting from McGill University and a Bach-elor's degree in Composition from the Univer-site de Montre al.
In addition to teaching at CEGEP and universi-ty, Mr. Dagenais enjoys an active career as a composer and arranger for wind orchestra. His works have been performed and recorded by numerous Canadian university and high school ensembles. His compositions are found in many North American concert band music festival syllabi and are published worldwide.
Jonathan Dagenais is also in demand as a con-ductor. He is the conductor and artistic direc-tor of the Orchestre à Vents Non Identifie (OVNI), a Montreal wind orchestra he co-founded in 2005. He is also the conductor of the Cercle Philhàrmonique de Sàint-Jeàn-sur-Richelieu, a position he has held since Septem-ber 2012. In September 2015, he was named conductor of the Orchestre de jeux vide o - OJV (Montreal Video Game Orchestra), an ensem-ble dedicated to video game soundtracks. Most recently in 2018, he was appointed principal conductor of the Ottawa Pops Orchestra. He also conducted the McGill Wind Orchestra and the Montreal Pop Symphony Orchestra (OSPM).
Mr. Dagenais has adjudicated at dozens of mu-sic festivals across North America, and has been artistic director of Musicfest Quebec since 2017. He has also conducted honour bands including the National Youth Band of Canada in 2013. Jonathan Dagenais is a Yama-ha Canada Master Educational Artist
