NATURE OF THE CAREER
A secondary school teacher: Teaches students in one or more subjects,
such as English, math, social studies or science, at the secondary (middle or high school) level in public or private schools. This is dependent upon their specialty and certification.
Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
Instructs through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.

to teach Professional or Temporary certificate Professional development through school, county, state,
or nation You are required to participate in a certain number of
hours of professional development each year. If requirements are not met, you will not be able to renew your teaching certificate.
