SCHOOL – HOME COMMUNICATION
o Weekly Emails: Every Monday afternoon, I email all parents with that week’s homework, announcements, reminders, events, and requests.
oFriday Folders: Every Friday, a folder will be sent home that includes graded assignments and has a progress report on the cover. This progress report includes a summary of work completion, behavior, and notes from me. It must be signed by a parent and returned on Monday.
Reading Logs: Every Friday, a reading log will go home
in the Friday Folder. Every student is required to read
for 75 minutes at home. The Reading Log is due the
following Friday and must be initialed by a
parent/guardian.
Common Core: The State of Arizona has implemented new, more rigorous standards in ELA and Math. This requires students to understand content more thoroughly and in depth than ever before.
Reading Resources: Harcourt Trophies, a few novel studies, and informational text (non-fiction).
Writing: 6 Trait Writing Rubric for narrative, argumentative, and expository styles of writing.
