Gradebook Setup:Weighted Categories, Grades Entered as Percentages
This guide will demonstrate how to set up the Gradebook to use Weighted Categories, where the instructor intends to enter and display grades as
Percentages.
1 In the Gradebook, click Gradebook Setup.2 Under Grade Entry, click Percentages.3 Under Categories and Weighting, click Categories & Weighting.
4 In the Category Field, type Essay, press Tab.
5 In the % (percent) field, type 70, press Tab.
6 Click Add a Category, repeat steps 4 & 5 for Labs Category (30% weight).
7 Click Save Changes.
To Create Weighted Categories:
1 Across the top of the page, click Gradebook Items.2 Click Add Gradebook Items.
3 Enter the required fields – Title and Gradebook Item Point Value
• For equal weighting within a category, assign the same Point Value to all items in that category
• For unequal weighting, assign differing Point Values.
• Items with a higher point value within a Category have greater influence within that Category.
To add Gradebook Items to a Category:
1 Across the top of the page, click Gradebook Items.2 Click Add Gradebook Items.
3 Enter the required fields – Title and Gradebook Item Point Value
4 In the Category field, click the drop-down arrow to choose a category.
5 To add multiple Items, click Add Another Gradebook Item.
6 To confirm all added items, click the Add Item(s) button.
