Dear Parents,
Annual and Strategic Planning
has been a focus over the last
week. Consequently, we have
many exciting plans in place
for 2019. One way you can
become more aware of and
involved in the broader life of
the school, is the Parents and
Friends Association or School
Board.
Our Parents and Friends
Association will meet for the
first time this year on
Wednesday, 27th February at
6.00pm. I really encourage
you to attend this gathering if
you are in a position to.
Peace and Blessings,
Petrea

Thank You Thank you to this week’s tuckshop helpers Katie Banting, Tara Vivian-Long and Lucie Plant. We are always grateful to parents and grandparents for donating even an hour of their time to support our community. Classroom helpers, particularly reading helpers, are also needed in the classrooms. Please contact Candice Wilkin if you are in a position to volunteer in any capacity in our school.
Zooper Dooper Friday As a fundraiser for their Canberra Trip, the Year 5/6 class will be selling “Zooper Doopers” each Friday this term at Afternoon Tea. The cost is $1.00 and each student will be able to purchase one ice-block. We would like to thank you in anticipation for your support of this fundraiser.
Tuckshop Tuckshop helpers are required for this year. Full tuckshop is held once a fortnight on a Wednesday. It is run on a voluntary basis and all profits go towards enhancing school resources for students. We need your support to be able to continue offering this service to the students during 2019. If you can spare some time for Tuckshop, your help will be greatly appreciated. Tuckshop opens by 8:30am and is finished by 12:00pm. The busiest time is from 9:00am to 10:00am. Even if you can help for a short time, it would be very beneficial. Please call in to the office or phone the school on 07 4126 1866 and leave your name and contact number if you can assist. Lost Property A silver watch has been found in the Prep classroom. If anyone has lost one, please see the front office staff. Student Information Update Last week Information Update forms were sent home. It is essential that we have accurate and up-to-date information about your child/children so that we can provide the best possible care. Please complete this form and return to the office by Monday, 4th March. If you haven’t received one, please notify the office and we will send one to you.
Uniform Days Sports uniforms are worn on Monday and Friday of each week and formal uniforms are worn on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A New Communication Tool St Joseph’s School is launching a Parent Portal and Connect App, which will become the main channel of communication for our school community. You will be able to download notes from teachers, read newsletters, browse photos, fill in electronic permission forms, check our calendar for upcoming events and see the latest news. There are also interactive features where you can let us know that your child will be absent, keep your contact details up-to-date, check your child’s attendance and see your child’s timetable and NAPLAN results. Access to our Parent Portal is restricted to parents/guardians of students at our school and a logon is required. Access to the Parent Portal can be made via a link on our school’s website or via the BCE Connect app (available from Google Play or the App Store). You will be required to set up a password on your first attempt to log on. You are required to use the same email address that you supplied to the St Joseph’s office. For more information, please see the BCE Connect document attached to last week’s newsletter email.
