MY JOURNEY TO MCBSKishuna JosephStudent # 0004634034
Before I started the MCBS Program I was an honor roll student in High
School.
I’d always been passionate about education, knowledge and
understanding.
But during my sophomore year in high school, everything changed.
I got pretty sick and had to be hospitalized for a month. Although it
was only a month, it felt like an eternity
While I was in the hospital, all I could think about was recovering so that I could go back
to school, see my friends, and be with my family.
When I finally returned to school, I felt like I just wasn’t healthy enough to be there.
Activities that were once normal and easy were now difficult and tedious.
That’s when I made the decision to leave the school I loved, the teachers I admired, and
the friends I grew up with and be home schooled.
While being homeschooled, my love for education was quickly replaced by feelings
of confusion. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue going to school.
During this time, I reevaluated my goals, realized I needed high school and higher education, and I enrolled
in an academy that was accelerated. I got back on track, graduated with honors, and started college
While at college, I knew that I wanted to attend an art school, so I decided to apply to SCAD for sound design.
During the application process, I realized that SCAD wasn’t the school for me, so my search for the right
school continued.
ART SCHOOL
Finally, through online ads, I found the recording arts program at Full Sail
University and I scheduled a campus tour.
Soon after that, I enrolled but I felt like I was neglecting my other interests
for art and design.
So I told my admissions rep and that’s when she recommended the
MCBS program.
And ever since I decided to pursue my passion for media, I feel like everything happened for a reason. Both
my failures and successes were lessons that have brought me to where I am today, and I’m exactly where
I’m supposed to be.
I AM HERE!
