Ben Venews
Principal’s Message Week 3 Term 4
Welcome to Week 3
Kindergarten Orientation begins this week with our first group of students visiting for the day. We are
very much looking forward to welcoming our next group of students to Ben Venue.
Joe Russell is currently on leave with an injury. In the interim we are trying to find a suitable
replacement. We hope to have someone available to work early this week.
Please do not send unwell students to school and be aware that any student presenting with any cold
or flu like symptoms will be sent home. I appreciate that this is inconvenient… it is to everyone;
however, we are following the guidelines in a bid to keep all of our school community safe. If you
receive a phone call from a member of staff asking you to collect your child I ask that you are mindful
in your interactions and treat them with respect.
Last week our Year 6 students visited ASC for the very first time. The school is absolutely amazing
and so incredibly well resourced. There is no doubt that students will enjoy the outstanding
opportunities that this new school will be able to provide.
School start times
Please be reminded that the playground is supervised from 8:40am. Students arriving prior to this do
so on the understanding that there may not be staff members available should there be an incident
requiring help.
Erskine St Pick-up
Please be reminded to put your child’s name on a sheet of paper or cardboard and display this on your
car dashboard or sun visor. This has proven to be very beneficial in managing pickup safely and
quickly.
External Validation and Situation Analysis
On Tuesday 10 November the school evaluation team will be meeting with an external validation
panel. The purpose of this is for the school to show evidence of where they sit in relation to the
‘School Excellence Framework’. The team have put together a comprehensive document that supports
our evaluation. The information gained from discussions with the panel will form the basis of our
school situation analysis and will provide key information that will be used in the development of our
next 5 year Strategic Plan.
End of Year
As we enter the final term, I would ask that the school is informed of any intention to leave our school or relocate to another town. Enrolments for 2021 are very tight, especially as we are now restricted with the number of places we can offer to out of zone students. There is no limit on the number of in-zone students that can be accepted.
