With the introduction of positiveguided grippers and the new OMNIplusSummum at the ITMA Barcelona show,Picanol has achieved majorbreakthroughs in segments such as carpetbacking, wide coating fabrics andconveyor belts, amongst others. Picanolhas also made further advances in alreadyestablished segments thanks toinnovations such as its ECOFILL wastelesssystem, the EFT programmable weftbrakes and the new DWC backrest forindustrial yarns.

As it is not allowed to show runningmachines during this event, Picanol willprepare cut-away demo displays so thevisitors can get an idea of the technologyPicanol is offering for this marketsegment. Exemplary finished products,woven on Picanol machines, will also beon show.

OptiMax 4-R 190 – denim

A 10oz denim style with corespunfilling yarn is woven on this advancedrapier weaving machine with Guided

Gripper system (GC), which is thestandard solution for spun yarns. Therapier tape of the light-weight GC systemis perfectly guided by one-piece hooks.This weaving machine runs at industrialspeeds that were never reached before.

The Electronic Disc Cutter (EDC) cutsthe filling yarn while clamping the filling.The machine is executed with a splitframe – ready for the Picanol Quick StyleChange system. The quick harnessconnections, the roll-away filling creel,the hand-operated quick snap locks forwarp beam and cloth rolls, and amicroprocessor for modifying crossingtime settings for selvedges and shed areall standard on the Picanol OptiMaxlooms keeping machine downtimes to aminimum.

OptiMax 8-R 340 – fancy voile

The Free Flight system (FF) is speciallydesigned for weaving delicate fabrics,providing maximum filling versatility andwarp friendliness. The system is coveredby raceboard for gentle treatment of thefilament warp yarns. The ElectronicSelvedge System (ELSY) full leno selvedgemotions are electrically driven byindividual stepper motors. The selvedgecrossing and pattern are programmed onthe microprocessor independently of theshed crossing, even while the machine isin operation, so the result of a resettingcan be checked immediately.

The Electronic Filling Tensioner (EFT)is a completely new active brake. Byusing long lamellas, the braking force isdistributed over a long filling length. Thecombination of the long braking platesand the damping properties of the springsystem allows to decrease the statictension to an absolute minimum.

With the SmartEye, Picanol launchesa filling detector with extrafunctionalities. The SmartEye fillingdetector allows individual sensitivitysetting per eyelet and verification of acorrect channel insertion.�
