SPECIAL THANKS
Special thanks to Nathan Hale High School Drama Deptartment and Sam Olson
We regret any omissions due to printing deadlines.
B IOGR APHIES ( I N A L P H A B E T I C A L O R D E R )
Laura Anderle-Smith (Co-Stage Manager) Laura has been involved in theater in many different capacities for many years. Currently she is the director of the theater program at Nathan Hale High School as well as an English teacher. At Hale Laura teaches Introduction to Theater, Advanced Act-ing, and Stagecraft, as well as various English classes. She also produces four performances a year. All productions are created in conjunction with her husband Robb Smith, and children Gabe and Isabelle Smith. She is really enjoying the roles of Stage Manager and Properties Designer with Smoke on the Mountain. A big thank you goes out to the cast and crew as well as to Team Anderle-Smith! “Enjoy the show!”
Samantha Burkard (Denise Sanders) Sam could not thank Robb and Laura enough for casting her with six of the most talented people she’s ever worked with, one of them being her best friend and now her twin brother! This show was an amazing opportunity to thank God for the gifts he has given her. “Enjoy the show and y’all come back now, ya hear?”
Jon Danner (Sound Board Operator) Jon has performed and volunteered with several productions since meeting his beautiful wife, Katie. He was seen onstage last season as Charles in Write Me a Murder and as Dave Miller in State Fair. He will next be seen onstage here in The Tavern. When not at the theatre, Jon works as a systems analyst in Milwaukee.

B IOGR APHIES (C O N T.)
Emily Knutson (June Sanders) Emily has performed in the pit orchestra of many musicals during her high school career, including Kiss Me, Kate and West Side Story. This is her fi rst stage role and she is excited to be doing something different. Emily is also going into her second year at UW-Waukesha as a Music Major.
Anthony Mackie (Wig Master) An-thony started acting at age fi ve. He attended Stone Cameren, Ruth Page Ballet Company in Chicago when he was 15. Anthony started a new career in Milwaukee where he was a hair stylist, director, and choreographer, and eventually a wigist for most of the theaters in the area.
Ann Morrow (Vera Sanders) Ann is very happy to be back at WCT. Her latest roles on this stage were Mrs. Lord in Philadelphia Story and Mrs. Shinn in The Music Man, but she has also performed with many other local community theatre groups, including Sunset Play-house and Mukwonago Village Players. She would like to thank her amazing friends and family for their unwavering support – especially those that fl ew in from out-of-state for this performance. “Hope you take to it.”
Corey Richards (Mervin Oglethorpe) Corey has been in many productions here at Civic. His favorites include Billy in 42nd Street, Horton in Seussical, Dickon in The Secret Garden, Snoopy in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Dr. Sawyer in Miracle on 34th Street. He has also performed as Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods, Chuck in Footloose, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat, and Joe Cable in South Pacifi c.
David Scott (Burl Sanders) Dave is happy to be on stage again at WCT, and even happier that you are in the audience! He wishes to thank Beth and the rest of his family for their
support, and the entire cast and crew of the show. “We’ve had a great time, and we hope you do too! God bless you and yours.”
Pam Seccombe (Co-Stage Manager) World traveler, theater lover, and re-tired teacher are the many roles Pam will be playing this year. She is very excited to add stage manager to her list of theatrical experiences. Pam’s theater career started at Nathan Hale High School Theater when she graced the stage in the faculty/stu-dent performance of Romeo and Ju-liet. After that experience, her need to be in the theater was fulfilled by becoming the Props Mistress for all shows from that point on. Now that she has finally graduated from high school, she is pursuing her love of theater by becoming a student again at UWM, studying theater. She has also been Props Mistress for Civic’s productions of Kitchen Witches and Twelfth Night. Thank you to all who have made this experience possible and enjoy the show!
Gabe Smith (Assistant Stage Manager) Gabe is so excited to be a part of Smoke on the Mountain as the Assistant Stage Manager! His Mom (Laura Anderle-Smith), Co-Stage Manager and his Dad (Robb Smith) the Director introduced him to theatre when he was 6 weeks old, and he has loved it ever since! “Thank you to my family and friends for the amazing support! Thank you for coming and enjoy the show!”
Robb Smith (Director, Scenic Designer, Master Carpenter) Robb is delighted to be back at WCT, having directed/designed last spring’s Twelfth Night. He has gratefully performed throughout the Midwest with a variety of theaters, and will next appear onstage in the title role of Dracula at Old World Wisconsin this October. He has taught Acting Up, Incredible Improv, and Behind the Scenes with the A.C.T. program here

at WCT. He feels blessed to be able to work hand-in-hand with his family on so many shows. Special thanks goes to his mother, Pat Lemon, who encourages him – as always – to keep a song in his heart and share it with the world.
Sharon Sohner (Costumer Designer) Sharon is happy to once again be working with Robb Smith and this wonderfully talented cast and crew. Recently, Sharon helped costume Willy Wonka, Twelfth Night, and State Fair for WCT and Mame for Brookfi eld East High School. “Let your toes tap to this engag-ing musical play.”
Shawn Spellman (Light Board Opera-tor) This is Shawn’s eighth year volun-teering at WCT. She is excited to be once again working with Robb Smith on this production of Smoke on the Mountain. “I enjoy meeting new people and working with the same faces too.”
Phil Stepanski (Stanley Sanders) Phil is thrilled to be part of his fi rst production at WCT. This year he has performed as Annas in Jesus Christ Superstar and Sir Edward Ramsay in The King and I. Spe-cial thanks to his beautiful wife Sarah for constantly supporting his renewed passion for the stage.
Jacob Sudbrink (Dennis Sanders and Music Director/Sound Designer) Jacob is proud to be returning to the Civic stage. When not on stage, he’s usually found working somewhere behind the scenes. Other produc-tions include Forever Plaid, Malt Shop Memories, Miracle on 34th Street, Can-dy Cane Tales and Holiday Carols, and many, many more. When not working at the theater, he runs a music studio out of his home. He would like to thank his family and friends for their continued support of his theater/music dreams, especially his new son Kaleb. “Kaleb, this one’s for you.”
DIRECTOR ’S NOTES
I am grateful.
The prospect of casting a show wherein the performers are to act, sing, AND play instruments on stage is a daunting one. I don’t know that I have sat through auditions quite like these - where I had a smile on my face from beginning to end.
Watching and witnessing this show unfold before me has been amazing. I cannot thank the cast - especially Jacob, who is also the music director, enough. The courage and positive attitude put forth by everyone has been amazing. Thank you!
Having Laura as the rehearsal Stage Manager and Gabe & Isabelle as able assistants has also been an immeasurable gift. Again, I am grateful.

It has been a pleasure and an honor to work in this beautiful facility for this incredible organization and with this amazing community, and I look forward to many more seasons of high-quality live entertainment. Not only do they all act and sing, but they are playing instruments at the same time. And not just one instrument, but nearly everyone is playing multiple instruments. Wow! In addition to that, this musical is an incredible feel-good show. I am confi dent that each and every one of you will leave the theatre feeling great. We have lots more music and stories in store for the Waukesha community. Our 55th Season is full of exciting entertainment options. Enrich. Challenge. Entertain. That says it all, so keep watching, keep participating with, and keep supporting this cultural cornerstone. We couldn’t do it without you. John CramerManaging Artistic Director

THEATRE INFOR M ATION (C O N T.)
PLEASE DON’T BE A “NO SHOW!” If you have tickets but cannot make the performance, why not give your tickets to friends to enjoy or let us resell them? You may be able to consider the price of the tickets that you turn in as a tax-deductible donation.
CIVIC BROADWAY SINGERS Are you looking for upbeat entertainment for your next special event? The Civic Broadway Singers perform year-round in southeastern Wisconsin under the musical direction of Abby Lorenz. The 30-voice group sings memorable Broadway favorites for a variety of events, from company picnics and Christmas parties to cor-porate lunches and grand openings. The Civic Broadway Singers provide their own piano and sound system and will perform for groups of all sizes in exchange for a donation to the theatre. For scheduling the Civic Broadway Singers at your next event, please call Abby at (414) 350-8713 or e-mail her at [email protected].
CIVIC SENIOR PLAYERS The Civic Senior Players are a dedicated group of Senior Citizens who have a craving to entertain others and who want to become skilled at it. The Players will devote time and energy to becoming actors. There is no charge to the seniors participating. This entertainment will be provided at no charge to any senior organization or residence, and the only requirement is an audience of at least 20 who would enjoy some laughs and a good time. Donations to WCT are ac-cepted. If you would like more informa-tion, call Carol at (262) 549-1091.
ACAP PLAYMAKERS provide daytime performances (often of original works) based upon school curricula, themes, and ideas relevant to children at vari-ous stages of their education. The fall PlayMakers production is geared to our elementary students, and the spring production is produced for middle
school students. While offered primar-ily to school groups, these family-friendly shows are great for public, private, and home school groups, Boy and Girl Scout troops, senior centers, and your family! Please call (262) 547-0708 for ticket prices and information. PlayMakers rehearse and perform in the daytime, and are always looking for new actors and technical personnel.
ACCESSIBILITY The Margaret Brate Bryant Civic Theatre Building is fully handicapped-accessible, and WCT is proud to offer a number of services for our patrons who have special needs (a four-week notice is required and ser-vices are based upon availability). For the hearing impaired we have a T-Coil Loop System, T-Coil Listening Devices, and FM listening devices that will amplify the sounds of the performance.
Patrons must have hearing aids with telecoils installed and activated to use the Loop System. Patrons who are blind can receive audio descriptive services for the performance. Wheelchair accessibility is available in two forms: transfer seats and wheelchair positions.
PATRONS Please refrain from wearing highly-scented colognes, perfumes, hand cream, or aftershave to perfor-mances, as many people have allergies or respiratory problems. WCT is con-cerned for all patrons and we appreci-ate your cooperation.
PARKING Parking is available on Main Street, in the Riverfront Plaza parking area behind the Theatre, off Barstow Street, in the parking facility on Broad-way, and at other locations in down-town Waukesha.
REMINDER As a courtesy to those who arrive on time, Latecomers will be seated at First Break!
