Pull Out Router Table, Thomas Pratley, Oxnard, California
In a small shop, my router table may create a little room. I used full exten-
sion, heavy duty
slides and added a
locking pin to keep
the table from
moving during op-
eration. When not
in use, it slips right
out of sight

May 2016 club meeting notes
Meeting was called to order by Lonnie at 9:05.
There were 18 members and two guests present. Lonnie welcomed the members and the guests.
Keith spoke about the club’s Facebook page and what was going on with it. He encouraged everyone to join and post
pictures.
Keith gave an inventory of club polo shirts and reminded members that there are gold and sand colored shirts available.
Rich passed around an order form and showed members the catalog and available colors.
Mrs. Hill (Norm Hill’s wife) asked if the club considered selling travel mugs and if we would go in with the Woodwork
Shop to share costs. Rich spoke about a past effort and that club showed no interest. Rich said he would explore that
again.
Tips and Tricks
Russ showed a video of how not to turn a large log into a spindle.
Wilson Lumber, downtown Memphis, is giving away free Cyprus wood. You have to scavenge through a dumpster to
get it.
The July demo will be at Keith’s house. Lonnie asked for ideas.
Show & Tell:
Lonnie Epperson made a pen out of Olive wood from Bethlehem. He also tried to turn a pen from an acrylic –
Acrylester – but had trouble while drilling the blank hole.

zilian Cherry, 3/8” thick and used #1 and #2 Flying Dutchman blades. The colored backings were from Fargo Plastics
(332-3331) on Shelby Drive. He also gets backing from Sloan Woodshop in Lebanon, TN.
Bill Covington turned a lidded box out of Ambrosia Maple.
Mary Lou Beauchamp won the member drawing. Lonnie Epperson won the Show & Tell.
