As a Learner
I learn best through getting hands-on experience and by [trying to] help others.
Last semester, I was a tutor for high school English students who had trouble passing the STAAR test (Texas’s standardized test). I learned way more from those kids in 10 weeks than they ever could have from me.
Career paths I wouldn’t have a problem with:
Journalist
Teacher (Journalism or English)
Ideally, I will work in the journalism industry for 10-15 years. At some point, I want to go to graduate school and end up teaching/mentoring at a university.
Fun fact: in order to get this picture with Bob Schieffer, some friends and I had to crash his Schieffer Symposium after-party.
Fun Facts (without context)
I can wiggle my ears.
I’ve never been on a plane.
I’m a friend-zone survivor.
I thought Mockingjay was fantastic.
When I was little and I would start crying or I wouldn’t sleep, my parents would have to put me in the car and drive me around with the Lion King soundtrack playing.
I watched some old guys dig up a dead body once.
I got married to another counselor at journalism camp this summer. My girlfriend wasn’t too happy. I also had a kid.
I can ride a stationary bike with no handlebars.
I’m constantly trying to think of an idea that will make me rich.
That’s it!I promise I’m not as boring as I seem.
(Okay, I can’t promise that)
