Relining of Furnace – 2, FAP (O)
The relining (replacement of refractory
brickwork and carbon paste) of Furnace - 2 of
FAP(O), was carried out in April, for the first time
after it was operationalized 20 years ago. The
furnace – 2 was recommissioned on 26th May
after relining. With this there is improvement in
thermal efficiency resulting in increased
furnace load and throughput.
Commissioning of Vermicompost Unit
A Vermicompost unit has been commissioned
at the Navanagar Colony, Paloncha, for
effective utilization of the wet and dry waste
generated from the kitchen and dry & cut
leaves collected from Navanagar Colony and
factory premises. In the Vermicompost Unit the
earthworms consume the wet and dry waste
and excrete it in digested form – ‘worm casts’.
The worm casts are used as organic manure
for developing the greenbelt in and around
the factory and the colony. With this, the
Company has overcome the twin challenges
of disposing the wet and dry waste and
eliminating usage of chemical fertilizers,
thereby enabling protection of soil fertility and
enriching soil quality.
