V.H. Lassen The V in V.H. Lassen happens to be his
name, Vernon . He was a farmer , and his family owned the
land the school is built on . His family then donated the land to the
district in the 1960s , therefore naming the school after him.
The Lassen Family farmed cotton and corn more than any other item.

History of the Area

History of area Lassen is located at 909 W . Vineyard
Phoenix, Arizona 85041 RSD was established in Phoenix,
Arizona in 1912 The first Roosevelt school was the
Broadway school , it was located at the corner of 7th street and Southern Ave.
History of area There were very few roads in the
district’s early days. Southern Avenue did not exist and
students reached the school by walking or on burros
History of area The population increased rapidly and
twelve –room addition was built in 1921
The increasing population made it necessary to provide more classrooms .
