Changing the volume level
Yourhearinginstrumentsareprogrammedtobeatacomfortablevolumelevelforyourhearingloss.Theyaredesignedtoautomaticallyadjusttochangesinthesoundenvironment.
Somemodelsallowyoutoadjustthevolumeyourself,eitherwithanoptionalcontrolontheinstrumentoranoptionalremotecontrol.

Thetelecoilhelpsyouhearbetterwhenusingatelephoneorinbuildingswhereinductiveloopsystemsareinstalled(placesofworship,halls,theatres,etc.).Whenthetelecoilisactive,youheardirectlythroughthetelephoneorinductiveloop.Toaccessthetelecoil,gotothetelecoilprogram.Seepage37.

Telephone use
Auto Telephone (allITCDorITCDx)YourinstrumentmayhaveanAutoTelephonefunctionality.Whenthehearinginstrumentisclosetoatelephonereceiver,theAutoTelephonewillactivateaphoneprogram.Whenyouendyourcon-versation,thehearinginstrumentwillautomaticallyreturntothepreviousprogram.

Changing the battery
Whenthebatteryisrunningout,theinstrumentwillbeepatregularintervals.Youshouldbepreparedtoreplacethebattery.Thetimeuntiltheinstrumentsstopworkingdependsonthebatterytypeandmanu-facturer.Mercury-freebatteriesgenerallycauseearlierwarningbeeps.

•Gentlyswingthebatterydrawerfullyopen,butdonotforceit.

Cell phone and hearing instrument compatibility
Somehearinginstrumentusershavereportedabuzzingsoundintheirinstrumentswhentheyareusingcellphones,indicatingthatthecellphoneandhearinginstrumentmaynotbecompatible.
Thecompatibilityofaparticularhearingaidandcellphonecanbepredictedbyaddingtheratingforthehearingaidimmunitytotheratingforthecellphoneemissions(ANSIC63.19-2006AmericanNationalStandardMethodsofMeasurementofCompatibilitybetweenWirelessCommunicationDevicesandHearingAids).
Forexample,thesumofahearingaidwitharatingof2(M2/T2)andatelephonewitharatingof3(M3/T3)wouldresultinacombinedratingof5.Accordingtothestandard,anycombinedratingthatequalsatleast5wouldprovide“normaluse”;acombinedratingof6orgreaterwouldindicate“excellentperformance.”
