“Despertar a las lenguas”(Awakening to languages)
Concieved as a plurilingual activity aimed at pupils of 7-9 years old
Its object is to make pupils conscious of the linguistic diversity of our society
Activity steps: A big Europe map is painted on the floor
The children have to recognize the countries and their languages
All the children are split into “nationalities” groups (British, German, French, Italian and Portuguese), and care a “flag” sticker
They learn how to greet and farewell in “their” language
The children “turn out” to be tourists, and travel to other countries where they are supposed to greet in the country´s language. They take their “luggage” with them.
The final step consists in talking about the other countries traditions (birthday, Christmas, etc.). All the pupils sing in all the languages.

“Discover your plurilingual & intercultural abilities”
Concieved as plurilingual activity aimed at pupils of 14-15 years old
Its object is to make pupils learn other languages by means of the languages they know
Activity steps:
an introductory written comprehension activity, compound of micro-dialogues in German, French and Italian, which the pupils will have to attribute to one of the languages by means of comparing frases with their English and Spanish equivalents
an oral plurilingual activity, based on the languages the pupils haven´t studied before (German, French & Italian). They will have to understand the activity, using their knowledge of Spanish & English
an intercultural activity, during which the pupils, united in groups, will assume different invented cultures and will have to behave in terms of these “cultures” rules. They will have to make them understand, to negotiate with others and to reach agreements, with respect and comprehension that other cultures should be always taken into account.
