By RoadCardiff is served by the M4 and is easilyaccessible from all parts of Britain.From the south west, take the M5and from the south of England, followmajor A-roads to the M4. FromScotland, the north of England andthe Midlands, travel via the M50 tothe M4.

Travelling east on the M4. Leave themotorway at Junction 32, follow theA470, sign-posted City Centre.

The Cathays Park campus – Followthe A470 towards the city centreand the University is sign-posted.

The Heath Park campus – Follow theA470 as far as Gabalfa Interchange.Take first exit onto the A48 (EasternAvenue), sign-posted Newport and theM4, but immediately exit at the sliproad on the left. This leads directlyonto the University Hospital site.

Travelling west on the M4. Leave themotorway at Junction 29, follow theA48(M)/A48, sign-posted Cardiff Eastand the South. Continue forapproximately seven miles.

The Cathays Park campus – Continuealong the A48 to the A470 (GabalfaInterchange). Leave the A48 atGabalfa Interchange and take theA470, sign-posted city centre. Followthe A470 towards the city centre andthe University is sign-posted.

The Heath Park campus – On theA48, speed reductions will benoticeable from 50 to 40mph. At this time the University Hospitalwill be visible on the right. Exit the next slip road, sign-posted“University Hospital” and turn right at the traffic lights along a short roadleading directly onto the UniversityHospital site.

Car ParkingThe Cathays Park campus – Two Parkand Ride services operate in Cardiff –one from the East of the city (£3.00per car) and one from the West of thecity (£3.00 per person). See Map 2for location. Car parking in theUniversity car parks is extremelylimited and a permit is required.However, there are several public carparks located close to the University,all of which are marked on Map 4.There is also pay and display carparking available on Park Place andwithin the civic centre (along CollegeRoad, City Hall Road, King Edward VIIAvenue and Museum Avenue).

This typically costs around £3.50 fortwo hours. Payment is by coin ordebit/credit card. Parking in the NorthRoad car park is £5.00 per day.(Charges for city centre multi-storeycar parks vary considerably, up to£18.00 per day.)The Heath Park campus – Limited car parking is available in various car parks.

By Rail / Coach / BusHigh speed inter-city trains providefrequent services between all majorBritish cities. The Cardiff-Londonservice, from London Paddington, runsat 30 minute intervals throughout theday. Frequent services also connectCardiff with Bristol, Birmingham,Southampton, Manchester, Liverpooland with many other cities and towns.Cardiff is also served by regular coachservices from towns and cities acrossthe UK. From Cardiff Central Stationthere is a frequent train service whichstops at Cathays Station (located onthe Cathays Park campus). Local busservices also operate from CardiffCentral Station. The Cathays Park campus – The No 27 service leaves Stand D4every 15 minutes throughout the day.The Heath Park campus – The No 38 service leaves St MaryStreet (Stand JE) every 10 minutesthroughout the day.

By AirCardiff Airport is 11 miles from the city centre. Coach and train servicesoperate between Cardiff CentralStation and London’s Heathrow andGatwick airports.
