AIntelligentBackAnalysisofTunnelResponsefromFieldMonitoringBack-analysisinvolvesthedeterminationofinputparametersincomputational

modelsusingfieldmonitoreddata,andtheycanbeparticularlyusefulforthe

analysisanddesignofundergroundconstructions.Heuristicmethodsofback-

analysis,whichareexperience-basedtechniquesforinverseproblemsolving,are

presented.Twoheuristicmethodsarediscussed,namely,SimulatedAnnealing

(SA)andDifferentialEvolutionGeneticAlgorithm(DEGA).DescriptionsofSA

andDEGA,theirimplementationsinthecomputercodeFastLagrangian

AnalysisofContinua(FLAC),andusesintheback-analysisofarealcaseofatwin

tunnelinChinaarepresented.

TheUsingDeepNeuralNetworkstoPredictSensorResponseandGeologyAheadofaTBMOptimalusageofTunnelboringmachines(TBMs)requiresinformationaboutthe

soilandrockoftheworksitethattheTBMisdrillingthrough.Inthisstudy,we

developednovelmethodsbasedonArtificialIntelligenceandDeepNeural

Networks,topredicttheoperationalparametersoftheTBMaswellasthesoil

ExaminationofSegmentalLinerLoadingforSoftGroundTunnels:DesignApproachesvsActualBehaviorEfficientdesignofthepre-castconcretesegmentscanhaveconsiderableeconomic

importance,especiallyinclosedfacetunnelingwherethesegmentaltunnelliningis

usedasboththetemporaryandfinalsupport.3Dfinite-differenceanalysis

simulationstogetherwithrarefielddatafromstraingaugesinstalledinsegmental

liningringsattheSeattleNorthgateLinktunnelprojectareexaminedtoprovidea

betterunderstandingofliningloaddevelopedduringEPBshieldtunneling.The

resultsofthisstudyshowthatthefinalliningloadsarecontrolledbythechamber

pressureforpressurebalanceTBMswithpressurizedmaterialintheshieldannulus
