On job training• This is the simple and popular method used for
training an operator. The trainee operator is put under some experienced operator or the supervisor.
• In this method the training is provided on the actual workshop along with the actual operations.
• As training is provided on the job, it is defined as “ON JOB TRAINING”
On job training
Advantages • Simple and easy to
understand• Less costly and no separate
instructor is required• Person is trained under
same machine under he works in future
Disadvantages • Disturbs the regular
schedule & production flow.• An operator can’t provide
efficient training as good as an instructor.
• Operator escape by assigning his work to trainee
• Creates chances of break down
Vestibule training• In this type of training the trainees are trained in a
separate training workshop as same as the original workshop which is made only for providing the trainings under some instructors.
• Facilities in this workshop are like class room, black board, projector and machines are also provided for training.
Cont.….
Advantages • Efficiency is high as
compare to on job training due to dummy workshop and instructor.
• Regular schedule is not interrupted
• Highly improved workers can be made
Disadvantages • Costly as dummy workshop
costs a lot• Costly materials are wasted.
Apprenticeship • Combination on above two training methods are
used in this method as “Earning and Learning ” both can be done in this method.
• After providing some basic training like in vestibule method the person is assigned some work like in on job training method so that he can get some live example of work.
• As soon as person is getting trained he is appointed in company as an executive.
Cont.….
Advantages • It combines both the skills-
training and operations.• Post training is not required• Person works with full
efficiency as he will get job after training in this
Disadvantages • High supervision is require• Apprence can’t give high
efficiency as regular operator.
Role play method• In this method trainee is given some particular role
to do which he needs to perform.
• A simple mock is arranged in this method in which person needs to do the work as a regular employee
Cont. …
Advantages • Allow the trainee to except
the real challenges • It allows him to understand
the behavior of a person and motives behind it
• It helps them to know how to react or deal with people
Disadvantages • Sometimes trainees take
it in a lighter way• Mock situation may not
match with real one• Require high degree of
preparation
Case study method• This method is similar to training provided by
lectures except one “business situation is created in class room”
• A single case is given to the trainees they need to solve it. case may contain 30 to 40 pages or 3 to 4 pages depends on case
Cont. …
Advantages • This training is very
effective as compare to lecture
• This improves the analytic capacity of a person
• This method is suitable for both technical as well as non technical persons
Disadvantages • Effective only for highly
qualified persons• Case must be deeply
analyzed• This is totally theatrical
method practical situation might differ then that
Business games • As the name suggest this method is similar to
playing a game in which trainees are divided in two or more groups and same situation is given to all of the teams to taken care
• Situation might be for improving quality of work• Analysis of each is done according to decision taken
by them
Cont. …
