Classical Music

• It´s written in scores. • It´s usually listened in concerts.

Classical Music

• It´s made for a select public and this public has to be in silence in the concerts.

• There is a lot of instrumental music. It´s elegant and looks for beauty in the simplicity, in the balance.

• Pieces are very elaborated.

Classical Music

• When it is played by an orchestra, the conductor is the guide.

• The composers are famous and professional musicians in the history of music. The performersare not usualy the composers of the pieces they play.

• It can change depending on the cultures.

• It doesn´t lose its appeal over time although it ondergone many changes throughout history.

Pop Music

• It´s usually recorded. • It is mainly for a younger audience and during the concert the focus is on the visual aspects of the performance.

Pop Music

• It conects very well with young people. Self-taughtmusicians play or sing it and electric instruments are usually used.

• Vocal music predominates. The songs deal with social and young people problems. The image of the pop stars is very important. It keeps to a formal structure “verse-chorus-verse” presented in a simple way . Voice is predominant in the first plane and has a lineal and repeated percussion.

• Usually the singer is the leader.

• The songs aren´t usually composed by one person. The composers aren´t usually classically trained. The performers are not usually the composers of the songs that they play.

• It is transmitted orally from generation to generation and it doesn´t need a score.

• Everyone can participate. ( To maintain its appeal has been transformed into more of a spectacle for the audience )

• It is enjoyed by all people. Everybody knows the compositions. Everybody can paticipate playing, singing or dancing. Traditional instruments are used.

• Vocal music predominates. It is related to the events found in the calendar or to the important moments in someone´s life. It is usually simple melodies with a small sentence structure, in verses and with a chorus.

• The audience often becomes involved in the performance as a part the spectacle.

• Pieces are anonymous. The composers are unknown.

• It exists all over the world and it varies according places.

• It withstands the passing of time.
