EL CARMEN. 10 km (6,2 mi) south from Chincha Alta city (15 mins). Home to ancient African slaves who were brought to the Peruvian coast during the 17th and the 18th centuries in order to fulfill the workforce needs of the San José and San Regis farms.

THE NASCA AND PALPA LINES AND GEOGLYPHS. Created between 200 B.C. and 700 A.D. Some lines reach 300 meters (984ft) of length and are best appreciated from the air. Among the most emblematic figures are: the hummingbird, the monkey, and the spider.
CAHUACHI. Nasca Ceremonial Center formed by a group of adobe truncated pyramids where several handpainted textiles, ceramics, and polychromed artifacts have been found.
CANTALLOC. 5km (3mi) from the city of Nasca (15 mins). A hydraulic engineering work built by the ancient Nasca people that nowadays is still working. Its construction materials, such as sandstone and huarango logs, have stood the test of time. There are as well around 20 spiral-shaped aqueduct vents.
Must-see places:ICAIn Huacachina, you can take a buggy ride and practice sandboard. The town of Cachiche is very well-known for its curanderos (folk healers). Another highly recommended option is a visit to the wineries.
The Afro-Peruvian folklore is another essential contribution from Ica which is shown in its lilting beats, the cheerfulness of its people, and its gastronomy.

WINERIES. Located in the countryside of the region wherepisco and wine are produced, in some cases still keepingthe cultural tradition of grape stomping that dates fromover 400 years.
BEACHES. About 3 hours away from Ica there is an area with ideal beaches to practice fishing and underwaterhunting. El Morro, El Negro, La Hierba, Lomitas, Oyeros,Antana, Barlovento, and La Cueva stand out among them.
PARACAS. From where it is possible to go on excursions to the Reserva Nacional de Paracas (Paracas National Reserve) and the Islas Ballestas (Ballestas Islands), refuge of sea lions, otters, dolphins, and over 200 bird species.
TAMBO COLORADO. About 45 minutes away from Pisco, inHumay. It is a very well-preserved Inca urban center builtby Pachacútec to accommodate soldiers and high-ranked
authorities.
EL CARMEN. 10 km (6,2 mi) south from Chincha Alta city (15 mins). Home to ancient African slaves who were brought to the Peruvian coast during the 17th and the 18th centuries in order to fulfill the workforce needs of the San José and San Regis farms.
FROM NASCA
THE NASCA AND PALPA LINES AND GEOGLYPHS. Created between 200 B.C. and 700 A.D. Some lines reach 300 meters (984ft) of length and are best appreciated from the air. Among the most emblematic figures are: the hummingbird, the monkey, and the spider.
CAHUACHI. Nasca Ceremonial Center formed by a group of adobe truncated pyramids where several handpainted textiles, ceramics, and polychromed artifacts have been found.
CANTALLOC. 5km (3mi) from the city of Nasca (15 mins). A hydraulic engineering work built by the ancient Nasca people that nowadays is still working. Its construction materials, such as sandstone and huarango logs, have stood the test of time. There are as well around 20 spiral-shaped aqueduct vents.
Must-see places:ICAIn Huacachina, you can take a buggy ride and practice sandboard. The town of Cachiche is very well-known for its curanderos (folk healers). Another highly recommended option is a visit to the wineries.
The Afro-Peruvian folklore is another essential contribution from Ica which is shown in its lilting beats, the cheerfulness of its people, and its gastronomy.
