Sherry Stein’s current role is HR Manager
Recruitment & Talent Management. This position
leads the team responsible for recruitment,
workforce analytics, staff and succession planning.
Sherry began her career in Human Resources 40
years ago as a Personnel Supervisor for Robinson
May Retail Corporation. She was recruited by Shell
Oil Company in 1977 to fill a Human Resources
position at their Wilmington Manufacturing Complex. She worked a variety of
assignments in Human Resources for Shell in California and Houston, TX
before her transfer to Bakersfield, in January 1995. She has performed a
number of Aera Human Resources Manager roles at Aera since its formation
in June 1997. Sherry holds a BS Degree in Marketing and a MBA from
California State University at Long Beach. Sherry’s interests include: being
active, cooking something new, writing, and travel adventures.
Sherry’s presentation is about the competencies (soft skills) and experiences
recruiters seek in college recruits. The API scholarship recipients and parents
will learn the critical few soft skills and why they are important in the
workplace. We will discuss experiences recruiters look for and provide tips on
how to grow and demonstrate soft skills competency.
