This is a perspective drawing of a set. A perspective drawing is not drawn to
scale. It is more of a free hand, 3 dimensional view of a set. It should be in color
and represent the set as you want it to look for production. This is the first drawing
of a set that should be done. Next you would draw a floor plan and then an
elevation.
This is an example of the first stage of drawing a perspective. It should be
sketched with a pencil so that marks can be erase.
This drawing has been drawn over with pen using a straight edge. The
pencil marks were then erased leaving a crisp clean drawing to work with.
In this drawing more details have been added.
In this final drawing of a perspective, more details
and color have been added to complete the design.
Draw a perspective of your set, and include it in your portfolio.
This is a floor plan. It is an overhead drawing of the set
layout on the stage. It is always drawn to scale. Often ¼”
represents an actual foot.
The floor plan helps in establishing the layout and actual structures that need
to be made. It does not have to be done in color.
Design a floor plan for your set, and include it in your portfolio.
The following page is an example of an elevation drawing. You do not have to do them for your portfolio, but you should know what they are.
An elevation is a detailed, scaled drawing used to design each flat that
needs to be built for a set.
