Leading the way in design and innovation
Part of our continuing success is attributed to
our commitment to ongoing product and material
development and a passion for innovation and
continuous improvement. We constantly strive to
upgrade our range to better satisfy customer needs.
Indeed, the enhancement of our product offering
forms the cornerstone of our entire operation.
Our commitment to exceeding our customers needs,
both current and in the future, drives our ongoing
design of groundbreaking cable solutions. Through
creating these solutions, we have introduced
specialist products for many diverse applications.
Connecta, part of the Firetuf range is a good
example. The revolutionary system which is fast and
simple to install, has been developed in conjunction
with our partner CDG to provide lighting and power
applications in tunnel environments. In the event of a
fire, Connecta maintains the integrity of the circuit
even if a local device fails - allowing escape routes to
be illuminated further along the line.
10
1. Conductor - in a conductor electric
current flows freely. Copper is a very
good conductor of electricity and is
widely used in electrical wiring.
2. Mica tape fire barrier - optional for
fire survival variants.
3. Insulation - the insulation is a non conducting barrier
which prevents direct contact or unsafe proximity
between the conductor and other objects.
4. Bedding - by extrusion, on armoured cables,
the innersheath protects the inner layers from
subsequent outer layers including the armour.
5. Armour - provides mechanical protection,
often also used as an earth conductor.
6. Sheathing - collects all the cable
components into a single compact body
and provides overall protection against
exterior damage.
Totally committed to research and development
At Draka we fully understand the important role our
products fulfil often in critical situations. This explains the
lengths we go to ensure they are of the highest
standard, and able to withstand the rigours of any
potential application.
Our state of the art research and development facility
enables the production of the highest quality cabling
systems. It is here that our products are tested to
unrivalled standards. Draka’s testing procedures meet,
and in many cases exceed the cabling industry’s most
stringent criteria for circuit integrity, flame propagation
and acid gas and smoke emissions.
Through years of involvement, Draka has become an
authoritative industry figure and spearheads a drive to
improve the quality of both industry standards and
products reaching the market.
We understand that our products play an essential role in
ensuring the safety of occupants and users of public,
commercial and industrial buildings.
We therefore attach paramount importance to the quality
of their production. That’s why our brand is universally
trusted.

Ensure peace of mind and fit the best
With the introduction of new fire safety legislation,
liability for any incorrect installation of safety systems
could now be directed at whoever is deemed
“responsible”. Designers, installers, contractors,
specifiers and building owners are now in a position of
being responsible for fire safety and could be subject
to prosecution if their actions are found to constitute
a breech under the order. Additionally, they may also
become potential targets for compensation claims
and could even find themselves open to charges,
corporate manslaughter for example, in the event of a
serious incident leading to death. Fire safety is
therefore of particular relevance with the introduction
of the new Fire Safety Reform Order. Lives are at
stake and the performance and effectiveness of fire
safety equipment in the event of a fire can determine
if they are saved. The correct specification of fire
performance cabling for critical safety systems can
play a key role in making buildings safer and
occupants less vulnerable.
With Firetuf you get total peace of mind. Once
installed it won’t let our customers or their clients
down. The highest specification products available,
they are the sensible choice. The safe choice.
If you specify Firetuf from Draka you can have total
trust in the product and in the company
that produced it safe in the knowledge that you
have made the right decision. But don’t just
take our word for it…
