The tooth, the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth...

Dental Implants

They not only restore normal appearance but make eating and speaking much easier than with dentures. With so many benefits, more and more people are choosing implants over dentures and bridges and are delighted with the results.Dental implants replace the tooth’s own root, allowing a replacement tooth to be anchored into the jaw – just like natural teeth. Once in position, an implant can secure a single replacement tooth, a bridge or a denture with several replacement teeth. And the real benefit is that they are virtually indistinguishable from your own teeth. Which means you can enjoy an attractive and natural looking smile once more. If you would like to know more and find out if implants would be suitable for you, please call to arrange an initial consultation.

Implants are amazingly natural looking replacements that feel as strong and comfortable as your own teeth.

New PanoramicX-Ray MachineWe are going to have our new digital panoramic x-ray machine installed in September. It will provide exceptional digital x-ray images enabling viewing of the entire dentition. The panoramic image will allow us to view the general relationship of each tooth to each other within the same arch and also how the upper and lower teeth relate to each other. The new machine’s image quality will be significantly better than the old film based equipment and radiation exposure will also be substantially reduced. The new equipment will help gagging patients and patients with a very small mouth as this machine takes x-rays without having to put sensors in the mouth.

We are proud to announce that we are going to collaborate with Dr Jimmy Makdissi, radiology consultant from Queen Mary School of Medicine and Dentistry for reporting on our scans when necessary.

Are you ashamed of your teeth?According to the British Dental Health Foundation nearly half of the UK population (48%) are unhappy with their smile with many of us ashamed to show our teeth in photographs. If you are one of those people then please do talk to us. We have a strong focus on helping to keep your smile looking healthy, but we also enjoy helping our patients enhance their smile. There are many things that we can do to help you improve your smile and patients are often pleasantly surprised at how affordable these smile enhancements can be:• Tooth whitening: a very popular way to brighten up your smile • Tooth-coloured fillings: restorations that look completely natural • Bonding: disguise small imperfections such as chips, cracks and gaps • Dental implants: strong, long-lasting, realistic replacements for missing teeth • Tooth straightening: a wide range of discreet treatment options are available to straighten and realign crooked teeth• Veneers: thin layers of ceramic to fit over the teeth to improve colour, shape and position.

Hello!Lou joined the practice after having worked in retail for 20yrs. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, having weekends away and exploring new places. She likes keeping fit, however, all of this is about to change as she is just about to become a grandmother.

Congratulations! to Georgie for passing her final dental nursing exam with flying colours. Well done.

If you would like to find out more about smile enhancing treatments, please ask us. Kam and Ailsa will be happy to help.

• There are many recorded examples of children born with teeth. Sean Keaney (UK) of Newbury, Berkshire was born on 10 April 1990 with 12 teeth. They were, however, extracted to prevent possible feeding problems. He grew his second full set of teeth at 18 months.

• The longest human tooth extracted measured 3.67 cm (1.44 in), which was removed from Urvil Patel (India) in Gujarat, India, on 3 February 2017.

• The oldest milk tooth belongs to Joyce Walen (b. 8 January 1927) of Capitola, California, USA, who still retained a deciduous tooth (upper left H) as of 25 February 2014, at the age of 87 years 48 days.

!We are open alternate Saturdays and late every Wednesday evening.
