ABSTRACT

Pisau Academic Year 2017 / 2018. Sarjana’sThesis. English Department, Faculty
of Teacher Training and Education, IAIN University, Palangkaraya. The first
advisor: M. Zaini Miftah,M.Pd,the second advisor: Sabarun, M.Pd.
Keywords: teaching, writing skill, recount text.
Writing skill is one of difficult skill because the ability to write in foreign
language is more complicated. It in valves many components such as structure,
vocabulary, punctuation, and spelling. Writing also need time and practice to
stimulate the students ‘skill and expressing their thought in to a good passage. One of
the objectives in Junior High School syllabus is teaching about recount text. Recount
text is one of the text which can ease students to write because it tells about events
that have happened in their live. Moreover, the MTSN 2 Pulang Pisau eight grade
students have good achievement in writing especially recount text. Therefore, the aim
of this study is to know the teaching process, especially its use material, media, and
technique in teaching writing recount text.
This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this
research is the English teacher who teacher the eight grade students. The data are
collected by using observation and interview.
The findings show that the material on the first meeting was recount text about
unforgettable experiences and on the second meeting was recount text about past daily
activities. The media used was picture. The techniques used were picture sets, copy,
examine sentences arrangement, completing, sentence combining, and parallel writing
technique.
Based on the findings above, it is suggested for the teacher to find other
material sources and techniques, not only use picture as media teaching, and be more
manageable in allocating the time.

Ketrampilan menulis adalah salah satu ketrampilan yang sulit karena kemampuan
menulis dalam bahasa asing lebih rumit. Kemampuan tersebut melibatkan komponen-
komponen seperti tata bahasa, kosakata, pemberian tanda baca dan mengeja. Menulis juga
membutuhkan waktu dan latihan untuk menstimulasi ketrampilan siswa dan mengungkapkan
pemikiran mereka kedalam sebuah tulisan yang baik. Salah satu tujuan silabus SMP adalah
pengajaran tentang teks recount. Teks recount adalah salah satu teks yang dapat mendorong
siswa untuk menulis karena teks tersebut menceritakan tentang kejadian-kejadian yang
terjadi didalam kehidupan mereka. Selain itu,siswa –siswa kelas VIII MTSN 2 Pulang Pisau
memiliki prestasi yang baik dalam menulis khususnya teks recount. Oleh karena itu, tujuan
dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses pengajaran, khususnya dengan materinya,
media, dan teknik dalam pengajaran teks recount.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini
adalah guru bahasa Inggris yang mengajar kelas VIII. Pengumpulan data menggunakan
observasi dan wawancara.
Hasil temuan menunjukkan materi pada pertemuan pertama adalah teks recount
tentang pengalaman tak terlupakan dan pada pertemuan kedua adalah teks recount tentang
aktivitas harian. Media yang digunakan adalah gambar. Teknik yang digunakan adalah
menentukan gambar, menggandakan, memeriksa susunan kalimat, menyelesaikan,
menggabung kalimat dan teknik penulisan paralel.
Berdasarkan temuan di atas, disarankan untuk guru untuk mencari sumber materi
yang lain juga teknik-tekniknya, tidak hanya menggunakan gambar sebagai media
pengajaran dan juga lebih bisa mengatur alokasi waktu.
