Having dated photographs and documented conversations are one way to prevent landlord abuse or conflicts with roommates. Connor also recommends to have a roommate agreement and to have in writing how much rent they are responsible for.

Many people do not know the multiple options that come with apartment living. Numerous communities offer recreational activities including billiards, movie theatres, bars, game rooms, basketball courts, and fitness centers that often offer interactive programs and personal trainers.
According to Apartmentguide.com, child services are also on the rise in apartment community living. Yes, outdoor playgrounds are classic at most apartments but many are now offering toddler rooms that are an indoor oasis for our youngest generation. These special areas allow children to engage in exciting and educational activities while interacting with kids their own age – an added bonus is they get away from the TV for a while. This apartment community amenity is particularly attractive for Millennials looking to start a family.
For parents, singles, recent college graduates, or any adult looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, several apartment communities are now offering amenities such as wine cellars. The wine cellars often offer monthly specials and tasting programs. In some higher-end apartment communities, adults can even enjoy an evening or even an entire day at an onsite spa and massage facility.
While homeownership may be on the minds of many, one should also consider the amenities that apartment living can offer. Many of the services that apartment communities offer today simply aren’t available in a traditional neighborhood of houses.
Apartment Amenities Outweigh
HOMEOWNERSHIPWritten by: Jacob Gretencord
While owning a home comes with its advantages such as the opportunity to make improvements and remodeling to your liking, many apartment communities offer amenities that are not available to those that own a house.

If you were to take a poll and ask people if they agree that an apartment can feel just as much like a home as a traditional house, most people would likely say “no.” Many would say that the lack of privacy, the limited design options, the neighbors, and the overall sense of being a part of a community prevent apartments from feeling like a “home”.
The truth is that it is possible that an apartment won’t feel like a home if the renter does not actually want to be living there, or if it has not been personalized for the resident living in it. But a house won’t feel like “home” either if you aren’t committed to making it your own.
HOW TO MAKE AN APARTMENT
A HOME
1 2 3 4DO YOU LIKE IT? PAINT WALLS DECORATE BE YOURSELFPick an apartment you can
actually see yourself living in. For example, if you absolutely cannot stand the countertops at one of the communities you visited, then I would advise not
to rent there. The apartment will not feel like home if every single morning you wake up, look around you and think… I would have never chosen
those countertops, or that light fixture, or this carpet. Choose an apartment that reflects your
sense of style.
Paint the walls, if you can. Some apartment communities do not allow residents to paint walls,
but others will let you do so as long as you return the walls to their original color. Painting the
walls a color that you chose helps in making residents feel like they contributed some of
their own taste to the design of the apartment, thus also making
it feel more like their dream home.
This is universally the way to make any place feel like home.
First things first, customize the design to suit things you like. And if you are stuck with furniture that doesn’t fit your
style and color preferences, use slip covers and throws to cover them up. And add pillows and
accessories that make it your own.
This one may seem a little silly at first but if you’re not
living in a place where you can comfortably be yourself then it is not going to feel like home.
Your home should be your sanctuary… a place to go after a bad day at work, or after a stressful day of classes. It is
someplace where you should be able to cater to your own needs
and take care of yourself and those you love. Act like yourself
when you are there.

In the near future, we may no longer be living in a country where the American Dream consists of owning a house with a white picket fence, a cute family, and dog. This dream is beginning to evolve right in front of our very eyes.
You can thank Millennials for this evolution in the American Dream. With this younger demographic the dream consists of minimal upkeep and maximum amenities. Many Millennials prefer to rent an apartment in order to take advantage of the amenities offered and access to maintenance staff, as well as the convenient locations.
According to the website of the National Association of Realtors,
what Millennials look for most in a home is its location, particularly in urban settings where home is more like a base for other activities in their busy agenda.
Additionally, since many Millennials work long hours and have a wide range of interests, less time spent on maintenance and yard work makes a world of difference in their lives.
Instead of owning a house in the suburbs, many Millennials have different values from previous generations and dream instead of a carefree lifestyle in the center of everything. As a result, Millennials may be apartment residents for many years to come.

Owning a home of your own has it’s many benefits, but for many Millenials, this old tradition seems to be fading out. Rather than buying a home, Millenials have a different path.
