JUNE 2014 3
A s I started to write my Vision article for the
month of June, I was focused on the Feast of
Pentecost and the Feast Day of our Church of
Holy Trinity, which we celebrate on Holy Spirit Monday. I wanted
to come up with a good metaphor
for how the Holy Spirit works in our lives and energizes us.
Everything we are do as Christians comes from the power
and energy of the Holy Spirit ,
which energizes our lives. We
are reminded by the words of our Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples
prior to His crucifixion that the Holy Spirit ―will lead
you into all truth.‖ The disciples of our Lord received the perfection of their faith once the Holy Spirit had
descended on them on Pentecost. It was only then that
they were able to go and ―proclaim the Gospel‖ to the world without fear.
As I was writing this article, I came across a
wonderful metaphor by the Biblical scholar, John Dominic Crossan, which he called the ―God-As-
Electricity‖ metaphor, or the ―Parable of the Elusive
Outlet.‖ It is a wonderful analogy about God’s empowerment and our lives as Christians . Crossan
begins his metaphor for ―God-As-Electricity‖ by telling
about his experience of trying to locate electrical outlets
to charge his computer in airports during his travels. This is something we all experience on our travels -
trying to locate outlets to supply power to our computers
and phones. Crossan claims that the airport outlets are always there, but rather than being obvious, they are
strategically placed, which sometimes makes them
difficult to locate.
The metaphor begins with God being our ―outlet‖
which we , the computers, phones, DVD players etc.,
must plug into in order to be energized. God is the
―outlet‖ which is always present, but oftentimes we either do not
recognize Him, or are not looking
in the right place. However, even when we find God, our human
freedom allows us to choose to
―connect‖ or not ―connect.‖ We have a choice to ―plug in‖ and be
energized , or not. God never
forces Himself on us, but instead,
waits for us to approach Him. Just like a computer, which needs
power to operate, we need God, without His needing us.
God is just because He is equally available to all comers. God does not discriminate against anyone or anything
that ―plugs in‖ to get energized, to connect. We are all
free to ―plug in‖ to the Divine power source.
Finally, we do not merit God’s action of
empowerment or deserve it in any way on our own.
Empowerment is the free gift of God. All we have to is find an ―outlet‖ and ―plug‖ ourselves in!
As you travel this summer, I ask that, while you are searching for airport outlets to plug in your
electronics, you also think about being energized by
God. Let us not forget that, just like our electronics, we
need God’s energy in our lives and must seek it out. Let the Holy Spirit inspire and energize your life, as He did
the Apostles on the Day of Pentecost. Do not let your
spiritual batteries run on empty, but ―plug in‖ and replenish your soul with God’s energy. It’s waiting for
you!

“Any man can be a father. It takes someone special to be a dad. “
B uild me a son, O Lord, who will be strong
enough to know when he
is weak and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who
will be proud and unbending in
honest defeat, and humble and gen-tle in victory.
Build me a son whose wishes
will not take the place of deeds; a
son who will know Thee…and that
to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge.
Build me a son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high, a
son who will master himself before
he seeks to master other men; one who will reach into the future, yet
never forget the past.
And after all these things are his,
add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor, so that he may always be
serious, yet never take himself too
seriously. Give him humility, so
that he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the
open mind of true wisdom and the
meekness of true strength.
Then I, his father, will dare to
whisper, "I have not lived in vain’."

Father to teenage son: "No, you can’t use the car—but please feel free to use the lawnmower."
Christos Anesti.
B y now , Easter has come and gone, and I can
only say that it was one
of the most rewarding Holy Weeks I can remember. It was so
fulfilling just to be able to spend
this special holiday with my
family together.
We sometimes overlook the
simplest of things. Watching Effie stand in the pews
with Raphael next to
her, both absorbed in the epitaphio that
was full of beautiful
f l o w e r s , a n d
illuminated from within. Having them
walk under and
reenter the church after the perifora,
what more could I
ask for? Standing
outside and hearing Fa ther Andreas
thunderous voice
echo with the sound of Christos Anesti, Christ has
risen! Truly He’s risen.
It was only a year ago that we
were informed Raph would go in
for a frontal orbital Cranioplasty.
It was 3 weeks before Easter. We were convinced by his surgeons
that they had new techniques that
would alleviate swelling. We went forward with the surgery, and as
suggested, the swelling was held
to a minimum. His forehead was advanced, his drains were
removed , and four days later, we
released to come home. His head
wrapped in bandages, he was his
happy-go-lucky self sitting on the
daybed in our hangout room, his usual favorite place. Although a
little lethargic, we realized that his
head was starting to seep out from the bandages.
A couple of days later, we had a
follow up appointment with his surgeon. He saw the swelling,
inserted a syringe, and extracted
about 8 ounces of fluid from his
head. He wrapped his head again
and sent us home. Within the next
few hours, the fluid was back and worse. This time when we called
his surgeon, he told us to bring
him to the emergency room. As
always, they were waiting for us and brought us straight into a
room. T he fellows from
neurosurgery came in, and this time, they removed about 22
ounces of fluid. He was admitted
to the hospital , as his movements were very slow, and it seemed as
if he wanted to sleep all the time.
We had an MRI done, blood work,
and tested the serum from his head. He went in for surgery, and
when he came out, we were told
he had an infection.
As the days went by, he was
still lethargic and only getting
worse. It seemed that the infection had gone to his VP
shunt; the valve that drains fluid
from his head and into his abdomen when he was 20 days
old. Here we are - it’s Holy
Week; I’m bringing Chrysoula,
Platon, and Angelika to Church while Effie is caring for Raph at
the hospital. The infection wasn't
going away. We were going back to the operating
room. His shunt
was removed and externalized while
he was pumped
with antibiotics
until the infection was treated. Two
weeks went by
until he was take in for surgery to
reposition the
valve.
Alithos Anesti -
yes, truly He is
R i s e n . O u r prayers were answered. It was a
month and a half long ordeal, and
we were home again.
All we can do is thank God for
what He has given us. It took
months before Raph was himself again, and as everyone who saw
him this Easter holiday, he's
doing great. And that’s why we realize that, no matter what we
stress about, with faith and
perseverance ,we can overcome anything.

Dad—For when Mom says “no.”
O n Sunday May 4th, our annual athletic awards
were presented in front of a full church to our very
deserving youth. Way to go kids! We are all looking forward to many more years to come!
It's truly a privilege to observe our youth athletic
teams work hard at practice and represent Holy Trinity really well at games. This year, the Coach's award was
introduced with new criteria. All players are considered
for this award and are evaluated on the following areas:
contributing to team success, attendance, helpfulness to others, good sportsmanship, leadership, representing
Holy Trinity youth Athletics, and his/her positive dispo-
sition. Please see the list for those who were recognized with a specific award this year.
The Athletic committee will have new officers in Au-
gust, and there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer. Please see us if you are available to contribute to the
ongoing success of youth athletics.
We are planning an upcoming family basketball night
soon. Please stay tuned for details. This summer, play-ers should continue practicing and staying active. We
are working on a special ―Hall of Fame ― event, com-
ing this fall. Details to follow.
All of the outcomes for this past, great season could not have been possible without the support of our spon-
sors, families, and volunteers. Our gym banner program
is an effective advertising opportunities and supports our
youth community. Thank you for all those who spon-sored us this year! A very special thank you to all par-
ents, coaches, volunteers, Parish Council members,
Athletic Committee members , and sponsors for there support this past season. Have a great summer!

Another school year has come to its end. On
June 11, we will
celebrate the end of the
school year, and the students will receive their certificates, diplomas,
honors , and plaques. With the
help, understanding, and support of our church, Father Andreas, PTO,
the Parish Council, and parents the
operation of our school went well.
During the year, our students
presented a few programs for the
October 28th, Christmas, Greek letters celebration, Clean Monday,
and March 25th. They participated
in the Greek Parade in New York City. Thus, our children
understand the particularities of the
Greek Orthodox Tradition by participating.
Also, every Monday, and many
times on Wednesday, our children learn to dance. And of course, like
other years, our 8th grade students
(4) will participate in the 2014 Comprehensive Examination in
Modern Greek – in New York
State, on Monday June 23, 2014.
During the summertime, it will
be very beneficial for the children
to keep up with the language by reading and reviewing simple
stories, by encouraging them to
talk with grandparents and other relatives or friends who speak the
language, and also by listening to
Greek music and songs. Have a
nice and joyful summer with your children and your families. Thank
you! Ka Eleni

JUNE 2014 9
H ow fast time goes by - it is unbelieva-ble. It was not that long ago that we
celebrated Christmas, and already we
are having our festival !
Last month, we had our Festival of Tables, and all the proceeds went towards buying the
ingredients for the pastries for our festival. In
turn, the proceeds from the pastries go direct-ly our Church. We had a very good time at the Festival
of Tables, and we stayed until midnight listening to
music by D.J. Aspasia. Thank you all for your efforts to make this event successful. It was , together with the
theater show, an oasis in the whole month's festival
preparations.
We had a very good time at the theater. We laughed a lot and enjoyed dinner. Sometimes, it’s the small things
that make our lives more enjoyable. They help us to for-
get the stressful days we have sometimes , and we con-tinue our lives with more enthusiasm. We hope our fes-
tival to be the best ever.
The schools are closing for summer vacation, and we wish all the children of our Community a happy and
enjoyable Summer! As for the graduating students who
are going to College, we wish them good health, a lot of
wisdom, and much success in their new lives! This month, don't forget to celebrate Father's Day
with your fathers or grandfathers! You shouldn’t have to
think too hard about what to give them in order to show your appreciation. A plain ―Thank You‖ with all your
heart is plenty for them. Happy Father’s Day, Dads!
If you made wreaths for May 1st (Πξσηνκαγηά), don't
forget that you have to burn it on June 29th, on Αγίνπ Ισάλλνπ ηνπ Ρηγαλά day. It is an old Greek custom.
This month, we celebrate the Day of Pentecost. On
the 10th day after the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, came the great Jewish holiday of Pentecost. It
was celebrated in memory of the giving of the Ten Com-
mandments to Moses on Mount Sinai. Pentecost was a
very important holiday. All the Apostles and the Virgin Mary gathered in a room for the
celebration, when suddenly a sound as a rush-
ing mighty wind filled the room where they
were sitting. On the heads of each one, flames like tongues of fires rested and, imme-
diately, they felt like new, with a strange
power - the power of Holy Spirit. They were fishermen, without any education and suddenly they
could talk different languages! They were given cour-
age, when they lost it, spiritual strength that enabled them to face danger and suffering. A lot of people gath-
ered outside of the Apostles ' house. Then, Peter stood
up and raising his voice for every one to hear, preached
his first great sermon, telling the people of the promise of the Savior, the coming of Jesus Christ, and His death,
and resurrection. It was such a powerful speech, that
three thousand people joined the Apostles and were bap-tized in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ on that day.
That day is the day when the Holy Apostolic Church
was formally established on earth, having received the gifts of grace promised by Jesus Christ. The Grace and
the Gifts of the Holy Spirit received on that Pentecost
day continue to live in the Holy Orthodox Church
through its ministry, its Sacraments, its prayers, and its faith.
I would like to thank all of you who stand by my side,
help me in every way, who worked tirelessly throughout the year on different projects and events; helping me to
help the needy, meet our commitments to our Church,
support our National Philoptochos and District commit-
ments, and so many other organizations that need our help. Thank you all! God bless you θαη Νάζηε θαιά λα

Holy
Pentecost
After the Saviour's Ascension into the Heavens, the eleven Apostles
and the rest of His disciples, the God
-loving women who followed after
Him from the beginning, His Moth-er, the most holy Virgin Mary, and
His brethren-all together about 120 souls returned from the Mount of
Olives to Jerusalem. Entering into
the house where they gathered, they
went into the upper room, and there they persevered in prayer and sup-
plication, awaiting the coming of the
Holy Spirit, as their Divine Teacher had promised them. In the mean-
while, they chose Matthias, who was
elected to take the place of Judas among the Apostles.
Thus, on this day, the seventh
Sunday of Pascha, the tenth day af-
ter the Ascension and the fiftieth day after Pascha, at the third hour of the
day from the rising of the sun, there
suddenly came a sound from Heav-en, as when a mighty wind blows,
and it filled the whole house where
the Apostles and the rest with them were gathered. Imme-diately after the sound, there appeared tongues of fire that
divided and rested upon the head of each one. Filled with
the Spirit, all those present began speaking not in their
native tongue, but in other tongues and dialects, as the Holy Spirit instructed them.
The multitudes that had come together from various
places for the feast, most of whom were Jews by race and religion, were called Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and so
forth, according to the places where they dwelt. Though
they spoke many different tongues, they were present in Jerusalem by divine dispensation. When they heard that
sound that came down from Heaven to the place where
the disciples of Christ were gathered, all ran together to
learn what had taken place. But they were confounded when they came and heard the Apostles speaking in their
own tongues. Marveling at this, they said one to another,
"Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we
were born?" But others, because of their foolishness and
excess of evil, mocked the wonder and said that the Apos-tles were drunken.
Then Peter stood up with the eleven, and raising his
voice, spoke to all the people, proving that that which had
taken place was not drunkenness, but the fulfillment of God's promise that had been spoken by the Prophet Joel:
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that I shall
pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and daughters shall prophesy" (Joel 2:28), and he preached
Jesus of Nazareth unto them, proving in many ways that
He is Christ the Lord, Whom the Jews crucified but God
raised from the dead. On hearing Peter's teaching, many were smitten with compunction and received the word.
Thus, they were baptized, and on that day about three
thousand souls were added to the Faith of Christ. Such, therefore, are the reasons for today's feast: the
coming of the All-holy Spirit into the world, the comple-
tion of the Lord Jesus Christ's promise, and the fulfillment of the hope of the sacred disciples, which we celebrate
today. This is the final feast of the great mystery and dis-
pensation of God's incarnation. On this last, and great,
and saving day of Pentecost, the Apostles of the Saviour, who were unlearned fishermen, made wise now of a sud-
den by the Holy Spirit, clearly and with divine authority
spoke the heavenly doctrines. They became heralds of the truth and teachers of the whole world. On this day they
were ordained and began their apostleship, of which the
salvation of those three thousand souls in one day was the comely and marvelous first fruit.
Some erroneously hold that Pentecost is the "birthday
of the Church." But this is not true, for the teaching of the
holy Fathers is that the Church existed before all other things. In the second vision of The Shepherd of Hermas
we read: "Now brethren, a revelation was made unto me
in my sleep by a youth of exceeding fair form, who said to me, 'Whom thinkest thou the aged woman, from whom
thou receivedst the book, to be?' I say, 'The Sibyl.' 'Thou
art wrong,' saith he, 'she is not.' 'Who then is she?' I say. 'The Church,' saith he. I said unto him, 'Wherefore then is
she aged?' 'Because,' saith he, 'she was created before all
things; therefore is she aged, and for her sake the world
was framed."' Saint Gregory the Theologian also speaks of "the Church of Christ ... both before Christ and after
Christ" (PG 35:1108-9). Saint Epiphanius of Cyprus
writes, "The Catholic Church, which exists from the ages, is revealed most clearly in the incarnate advent of
Christ" (PG 42:640). Saint John Damascene observes,
"The Holy Catholic Church of God, therefore, is the as-sembly of the holy Fathers, Patriarchs, Prophets, Apos-
tles, Evangelists, and Martyrs who have been from the
very beginning, to whom were added all the nations who
believed with one accord" (PG 96, 1357c). According to Saint Gregory the Theologian, "The Prophets established
the Church, the Apostles conjoined it, and the Evangelists
set it in order" (PG 35, 589 A). The Church existed from the creation of the Angels, for the Angels came into exist-
ence before the creation of the world, and they have al-
ways been members of the Church. Saint Clement, Bish-op of Rome, says in his second epistle to the Corinthians,
the Church "was created before the sun and moon"; and a
little further on, "The Church existeth not now for the first
time, but hath been from the beginning" (II Cor. 14). That which came to pass at Pentecost, then, was the
ordination of the Apostles, the commencement of the ap-
ostolic preaching to the nations, and the inauguration of the priesthood of the new Israel. Saint Cyril of Alexandria
says that "Our Lord Jesus Christ herein ordained the in-
structors and teachers of the world and the stewards of
His divine Mysteries ,showing together with the dignity of Apostleship, the incomparable glory of the authority
given them ; Revealing them to be splendid with the great
dignity of the Apostleship and showing them forth as both stewards and priests of the divine altars , they became fit
to initiate others through the enlightening guidance of the
Holy Spirit" (PG 74, 708-712). Saint Gregory Palamas says, "Now, therefore ... the Holy Spirit descended ...
showing the Disciples to be supernal luminaries ... and the
distributed grace of the Divine Spirit came through the
ordination of the Apostles upon their successors" (Homily 24, 10). And Saint Sophronius, Bishop of Jerusalem,
writes, "After the visitation of the Comforter, the Apostles
became high priests" (PG 87, 3981B). Therefore, together with the baptism of the Holy Spirit which came upon
them who were present in the upper chamber, which the
Lord had foretold as recorded in the Acts, "ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days hence" (Acts
1:5), the Apostles were also appointed and raised to the
high priestly rank, according to Saint John Chrysostom
(PG 60, 21). On this day commenced the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by which we become "partakers of the
Divine Nature" (II Peter 1:4). For before Pentecost, it is
said of the Apostles and disciples only that they abode in "prayer and supplication" (Acts 1:14); it is only after the

The feast of holy Pentecost, there-

Apostles proclaimed the good tidings
"in country and town," preaching and baptizing and appointing shepherds,
imparting the priesthood to them
whom they judged were worthy to minister, as Saint Clement writes in
his first Epistle to the Corinthians (I Cor. 42).

The precursor of the mirror is the mother's face.
A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated. He found his 5-year-old son
waiting for him at the door. "Daddy, may I
ask you a question?"
The dad replied: "Yeah, sure, what is it?" "Daddy, how much money do you make an hour?"
The dad got mad and said, "That’s none
of your business! Why do you want to know?"
The little boy said, "I just want to know.
Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?"
The dad, wanting to sit down and relax,
said, "If you must know, I make $20 an
hour." The little boy sighed and bowed his
head. Looking up, he asked, "Daddy, may
I borrow $10 please?"
The father flew off the handle, "If the
only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is so that you can hit me up for some cash to buy
some stupid toy, then you march yourself straight to
your room and go to bed. You’re so selfish. I work long,
hard hours every day and don’t have time for this."
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the
door. The dad sat down and started to get even madder about the nerve of his little boy. How dare he ask ques-
tions only to get some money. After an hour or so, the
man had calmed down, and started to think that maybe he was a bit hard on his boy. Maybe his son really need-
ed the money for something important. And so, the fa-
ther went up to his boy’s room and opened it, "Are you
asleep, son?" "No daddy. I’m awake," replied the boy.
"I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier. It’s been a long
day, and I took it out on you. Here’s
that 10 bucks you asked for." The little boy sat straight up,
beaming. "Oh, thank you, daddy!" he
exclaimed. Then, reaching under his
pillow, he pulled out a wad of crum-pled up bills.
The dad, seeing that the boy already
had some money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted
out his money, and then looked up at
his dad. The dad, now ticked off, demanded to know what was
going on, "Why did you want more money if you al-
ready had some?"
The little boy replied, "Because I didn’t have enough,
but now I do. Daddy, I have $20 now…and I’d like to
buy an hour of your time." Submitted by Vicky Andriotis --- Author Unknown

An Hour of Your Time
JUNE 2014 13
W hen the good Lord was creating Fathers he started with a tall frame. And a female angel
nearby said, "What kind of Father is that? If
you're going to make children so close to the ground,
why have you put Fathers up so high? He won't be able to shoot marbles without kneeling,
tuck a child in bed without bend-
ing, or even kiss a child without a lot of stooping." And God smiled
and said, "Yes, but if I make him
child-size, who would children have to look up to?"
And when God made a Father's
hands, they were large and sin-ewy. And the angel shook her
head sadly and said, "Do you
know what you're doing? Large hands are clumsy. They can't manage diaper pins, small buttons, rubber bands on
pony tails or even remove splinters caused by baseball
bats." And God smiled and said, "I know, but they're large enough to hold everything a small boy empties
from his pockets at the end of a day...yet small enough
to cup a child's face in his hands."
And then God molded long, slim legs and broad
shoulders. And the angel nearly had a heart attack. "Boy,
this is the end of the week, all right," she clucked. "Do you realize you just made a Father without a lap? How is
he going to pull a child close to him without the kid fall-
ing between his legs?" And God smiled and said, "A mother needs a lap. A father needs strong shoulders to
pull a sled, balance a boy on a bicycle, and hold a sleepy
head on the way home from the circus."
God was in the middle of creating
two of the largest feet anyone had
every seen when the angel could contain herself no longer. "That's
not fair. Do you honestly think
those large boats are going to dig out of bed early in the morning
when the baby cries? Or walk
through a small birthday party
without crushing at least three of the guests?" And God smiled and
said, "They'll work. You'll see.
They'll support a small child who wants to ride a horse to Banbury Cross, or scare off mice at the summer cabin,
or display shoes that will be a challenge to fill."
God worked throughout the night, giving the Father
few words, but a firm authoritative voice; eyes that saw
everything, but remained calm and tolerant. Finally, al-
most as an afterthought, he added tears. Then he turned to the angel and said, "Now, are you satisfied that he can
love as much as a Mother?" The angel shuteth up.

Creating The
Father
I received a letter from a single
mother who had raised a son who was about to become a dad.
Since he had no recollection of his
own father, her question to me was "What do I tell him a father does‖
When my dad died in my ninth year, I, too, was raised by my moth-
er, giving rise to the same question,
"What do fathers do?" As far as I
could observe, they brought around the car when it rained so everyone
e l s e c o u l d s t a y d r y .
They always took the family pic-
tures, which is why they were never in them. They carved turkeys on
Thanksgiving, kept the car gassed
up, weren't afraid to go into the basement, mowed the lawn, and
tightened the clothesline to keep it
from sagging.
It wasn't until my husband and I
had children that I was able to ob-
serve firsthand what a father con-tributed to a child's life. What did he
do to deserve his children's respect?
He rarely fed them, did anything about their sagging diapers, wiped
their noses or fannies, played ball,
or bonded with them under the
h o o d s o f t h e i r c a r s .
What did he do? He threw
them higher than his head until they were weak from laughter. He cast
the deciding vote on the puppy de-
bate. He listened more than he talked. He let them make mistakes.
He allowed them to fall from their
first two-wheeler without having a
heart attack. He read a newspaper while they were trying to parallel
park a car for the first time in prepa-

If I had to tell
someone's son what a father
really does that is important, it would be that he shows up
for the job in good times
and bad times. He's a man who is constantly being ob-
served by his children. They
learn from him how to han-dle adversity, anger, disap-
pointment and success.
He won't laugh at their dreams no matter how im-
possible they might seem.
He will dig out at 1 a.m. when one of his children runs out of gas. He will make
unpopular decisions and stand by them. When he is
wrong and makes a mistake, he will admit it. He sets the tone for how family members treat one another, mem-
bers of the opposite sex and people who are different

are. By example, he can
instill a desire to give something back to the com-
munity when its needs are
greater than theirs. But mostly, a good father
involves himself in his kids'
lives. The more responsi-bility he has for a child, the
harder it is to walk out of
his life. A father has the
potential to be a powerful force in the life of a child.

Get Rid of Dad?
The children begged for a ham-
ster, and after the usual fervent
vows that they alone would care for it, they got one. They named it
Danny. Two months later, when
Mom found herself responsible for
cleaning and feeding the creature, she located a prospective new
home for it. The children took the
news of Danny's imminent depar-ture quite well, though one of them
remarked, "He's been around here a
long time--we'll miss him." "Yes," Mom replied, "But he's
too much work for one person, and
since I'm that one person, I say he
goes." Another child offered, "Well,
maybe if he wouldn't eat so much
and wouldn't be so messy, we could keep him."
But Mom was firm. "It's time to
take Danny to his new home now,"
she insisted. "Go and get his cage." With one voice and in tearful
outrage the children shouted,
"Danny? We thought you said
Daddy!"
Letter from
Prodigal Son
Dear folks, I feel miserable because I have
to keep writing for money. I feel
ashamed and unhappy to have to ask for another hundred, but every
cell in my body rebels. I beg on
bended knee that you forgive me.
Your son, Marvin. P.S. I felt so terrible I ran after
the mailman who picked this up in
the box at the corner. I wanted to take this letter and burn it. I
prayed that I could get it back. But
it was too late.
Reply A few days later Marvin re-
ceived a letter from his father. It said, 'Your prayers were answered.
Your letter never came!'
Penny Trick
After tucking their three-year-
old child Sammy in for bed one night, his parents heard sobbing
coming from his room.
Rushing back in, they found him
crying hysterically. He managed to tell them that he had swallowed a
penny and he was sure he was go-
ing to die. No amount of talking was helping.
His father, in an attempt to calm
him down, palmed a penny from his pocket and pretended to pull it
from Sammy's ear. Sammy was
delighted.
In a flash, he snatched it from his father's hand, swallowed, and
then cheerfully demanded, "Do it
again, Dad!" Authors Unknown -Submitted by
