The One and Only Reason People Go to Hell
By Curtis Hutson
Mr. Hutson’s Conclusions
• People are NOT going to Hell because:– They sin
– They will not stop sinning
– Of the kinds of sins they commit.
– They do not live like christians.
– They have not been baptized
• “…It cannot be sin that causes a person to go to Hell. It has to be something else.”
• According to Mr. Hutson the reason is:– Unbelief in Christ
– Men refuse to believe in Christ
– Men will not trust Christ and Him alone
– Men will not depend on Christ
Mr. Hutson’s Conclusions
• Implied in this article:– It’s alright to sin.– No need to stop sinning.– Sin is not dangerous.– No need to live a Christian life.– No need to be baptized.
Mr. Hutson’s Conclusions
“…It cannot be sin that causes a person to go to Hell. It must be something else.”
• Ministers of Satan do exist:– “Now the Spirit expressly says that in
latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron.” {1 Timothy 4:1,2}
“Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear
heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face
from you, so that He will not hear.” {Isaiah 59:1-2}
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord.” {Romans 6:23}

“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires
and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and
sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” {James 1:14,15}
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes,
for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” {Romans 1:16}
“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead
works to serve the living God?”{Hebrews 9:14}

Gospel Tells Us:
What Is Sin?
“Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is
lawlessness.” {1 John 3:4}
“Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ
does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ
has both the Father and the Son.” {2 John 9}
“Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of
heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we
not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done
many wonders in Your name?‘ And then I will declare to them, 'I never
knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
{Matthew 7:21-23}
What Is Sin?
Lawlessness
• Acting without authority.
• State of being without law.
• Bible sense: Acting without Christ’s authority.
• Lawless Acts:– Circumcision for salvation.
– Infant baptism?
– Instrumental music?
– Altar-call?
– Church-sponsored recreation?
What Is Sin?
“All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.”
{1 John 5:17}
“My tongue shall speak of Your word, For all Your commandments
are righteousness.” {Psalm 119:172}
“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it
is written, the just shall live by faith.” {Romans 1:17}
Sin Is: All Unrighteousness
Failure to do what God commands.
All kinds of sins and violations.
Unrighteous Acts:
Galatians 5:19-21
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Romans 1:22-32
• Sexual Immorality
• Murder, Maliciousness
• Drunkenness, Carousing
• Sins of the Tongue
• Strife, Division, Envy, Jealousy
• Stealing, Cheating

• And Such Like…
Are You
Guilty?
“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to
him it is sin.” {James 4:17}
“But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in
need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children,
let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.”
{1 John 3:17,18}
What Is Sin?
Sin Is: Not Doing Good
Seeing good you can accomplish, but not acting!
Good deeds left undone:
Hungry not fed.Thirsty not given drink.Stranger left outside – inhospitable.Naked left unclothed.Sick not cared for.Widows and orphans left destitute.Prisoners neglected.Not attending assembly.Not inviting others to Christ.Failure to study and grow.
Are You
Guilty?
“Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he
approves.” {Romans 14:22}
“But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is
sin.” {Romans 14:23}
“One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in
his own mind.” {Romans 14:5}
What Is Sin?
Sin Is: Violating One’s ConscienceDoing something you believe to be wrong.
Conscience doesn’t determine right and wrong.
Living according to what we believe to be right.
You believe the action is wrong:
Eating meat sacrificed to idols.
Observing certain days.
Not wearing the covering of 1 Corinthians 11.
Decorating a tree at Christmas time.
Must keep educating our consciences by the right standard – God’s Word.

Knowing, But Not Doing Good
