“El Charro de Mexico,” Antonio Aguilar
Statue Unveiled in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, California– An 18-
foot bronze statue of Antonio
Aguilar, a popular Mexican re-
cording and film star, was un-
veiled on Sunday, September 16,
2012.
Aguilar came to Los Angeles in
1940 in search of the “American
Dream.” Aguilar faced the hard-
ship of having no food and very
little money and sleeping on
benches. Determination and the
need to succeed drove Aguilar to
work hard and gain recognition
through his music.
Aguilar eventually became a ma-
jor music star and is the only La-
tino artist to sell out Madison
Square Garden for six consecu-
tive nights.
The unveiling took place around
La Placita Olvera, now part of El
Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical
Monument during the city’s cele-
bration of Mexican Independence
Day.
Aguilar’s wife, Flor Silvestre,
and sons, Antonio Jr. and Jose
“Pepe” Aguilar were on hand for
the ceremony.

Bridget Wagner was a strong woman. For ten years, ever
since the death of her husband, she had run her ranch with
an iron hand.
Powerful companies, which had been buying land all around,
wanted very much to purchase her property. The cajoled,
schemed and even menaced, but to no avail. She met all
challenges and kept her land.
Her pickup truck turned over one night as she was returning
home and she died in the accident. Her only survivor was her
daughter, Gretchen.
The last shovel of dirt had barely been thrown over the
grave, when lawyers started to descend upon the ranch.
They offered a ridiculously low price for the land. Gretchen
was told she had a choice of either accepting their offer or
going to court and losing everything.
Mrs. Wagner had died without leaving a will and had never
told her daughter where she kept the deeds of the property.
In her desperation Gretchen was calling to her mother al-
most reproachfully. “Mamma,” she was saying, “why didn’t
you write a will? Now we are going to lose everything!”
Four weeks went by. The lawyers had set a deadline. One
more day, one more night and she would be evicted.
All through the day she felt she was not alone. She sensed
her mother was trying to communicate with her but that her
mother’s voice couldn’t quite reach her.
Gretchen went to bed that night with the same sensation.
“Mamma is here. She is trying to tell me something, but
what?’ She lay with her eyes staring at the dark ceiling. A
couple of hours went by; she just couldn’t go to sleep.
Suddenly, around midnight, there was a terrible noise down-
stairs in the hall. She heard the sweet voice of her mother at
the door of the room. “Gretchen,” the voice said, “don't be
afraid. I came to help you.”
There was a whitish form, an almost translucent form, in the
door, beckoning her to follow. Gretchen did not hesitate to
accompany the ghost of her mother downstairs.
In the hall, the large mirror was shaking violently and as soon
as she arrived at the foot of the stairs, the mirror exploded in
pieces, revealing a safe in the wall. The little wheel of the
safe started to turn as if moved by invisible fingers. Two
turns to the left, one turn to the right and the door opened.
The voice said, “I will never again be allowed to talk to you.
You’ll find everything you need in the safe. Goodbye.”
The white form disappeared. Gretchen was alone again. She
found in the safe a will in which her mother had left her eve-
rything, along with the deeds of the property and a fortune
in war bonds.
She did not go back to sleep. She sat on the porch and wait-
ed anxiously for the coming of the lawyers. She was ready for
them. Her mother’s love had been so strong that it had gone
through the walls of death itself.

Oscar “Bullet” Villa
Villa was born on May 12, 1948 to Oscar and
Consuelo Villa in Falfurrias, Texas. Growing
up as a child, Villa remembers spending ex-
citing and fun filled days in his barrio
“Mexiquito.” Some of his fondest memories
are listening to corridos and polkas being
played on the juke box. He also recalls hear-
ing every day from 7 am until noon, a radio
program called “Los Gritos de los Hombres.”
He also, remembers working as a shoe-
shiner, salesman and a water-melon picker.
He used to get paid $0.75 an hour for picking
watermelons.
Villa comes from a musical family back-
ground. His father, Oscar Villa, is a Tejano
ROOTS Hall of Famer, Class of 2007. Villa’s
grandfather, Don Alberto, was a music
maestro. Villa’s uncle, Beto Villa, is consid-
ered “The Father of the Tejano Orchestras.”
Villa’s father purchased a brand new trum-
pet for Villa from Galvan Music Store. Villa
was not happy with the instrument and de-
cided to quit playing. Villa remembers that
his father was very upset with him and dis-
appointed also.
In high school, Villa learned how to play the
saxophone and flute, of which he still contin-
ues to play. During his high school years Villa
joined a group called Johnny Cuellar and the
Rock-in Robins from Falfurrias.
Over the years Villa became known as “El
Bullet.” After graduation he moved to Austin
and joined Shorty and the Corvettes. The
Corvette’s most memorable song was “La
del Moño Colorado.” Later, Villa toured with
Augustín Ramirez, Isidro “Indio” Lopez, and
Los Fabulosos 4 de Armando Hinojosa.
Villa has also performed with Steve Jordan
on Austin City Limits. Villa is no stranger to
performing with the best. Villa has per-
formed with Freddy Fender, Flaco Jiménez,
Mazz, Latin Breed, and Los Dos Gilbertos-
just to name a few big names in the Tejano
music industry.
Villa arranged two instrumental polkas,
which became international hits. The polkas
were called “Los Viejitos” and “Los Juerqui-
tos.” They were recorded under Falcon
Records.
In 1974, Villa formed his own group called
The Viva Villa Band, recording under
Cornelio Reyna’s label, CR. Once again Villa
had two hit songs, “Ay Corazón de Mi Vida”
and “La Risa.” Unfortunately the group dis-
banded and each member went on their
separate paths. Villa moved to México and
performed at night clubs for three years.
Finally deciding to move back to the United
States, Villa settled down in Kingsville, Texas.
There he enrolled at Texas A&I University-
Kingsville and majored in Chicano Studies.
While studying Villa found time to write for
the university’s paper, The South Texan, and
also became the university’s first Tejano DJ
at the local university owned radio station
KTAI-FM 91.1 “The One.”
Today, Villa performs mostly at casinos
across the nation. He is also currently work-
ing on a Tejano CD. Villa has a Tejano music
column for El Defensor Newspaper from
Robstown, Texas.

Chinese Contractor to Build
Highway in Costa Rica
The Vice President Luis Liberman announced details of the agreement between Costa Rica and China, after his trip to that country, to finance the expansion of Route 32 to four lanes, from the intersection of Rio Frio to Limon. The Vice President has traveled to Asia in order to contin-ue the negotiations which were begun in August by Mrs. President Laura Chinchilla.
As part of the agreement, Costa Rica will receive financing of about $400 million, with a 20-year term, and a grace period of three to four years, “on which the principal will not be paid, only interest equivalent to the period of construction plus one year and at a rate of 3.5%, which is very reasonable,” said the Vice President.
Up to three teams of Costa Rican experts will finalize all technical details in order for every-thing to be ready on October 8. This is the very first time the country will have a project, a turn-key model, such as this, so all the details should be ready soon.
NASA scientists plan to launch a telescope into space
in an attempt to find the mysterious killer planet
Nibiru. Supposedly, the planet may considerably
change life on Earth in near future, reports NTV.
According to a number of experts on the esoteric, the planet will bring all sorts of horrors to Earth, strictly
on the scenarios of end-of-the-world films. The list of
disasters includes: earthquakes, floods, tsunamis,
fires meteor showers, etc.
Scientists of the American space agency discovered
Nibiru back in 1983 with the help of IRAS infrared
telescope. Some scientists believe that Nibiru is a
home to an alien civilization that lives on the surface
of the planet.
It is assumed that it is the mythical Nibiru that caused
the axis of several planets of the solar system to
change. The planet also led to the appearance of
cracks and craters on the Moon.
The disasters on our planet may occur in case a large
planetary object collides with Earth or flies near our
planet. The phenomenon is known as the Nibiru cata-
clysm. The idea that a planet-sized object could col-lide with or pass by Earth in the near future is not
supported by any scientific evidence and has been
rejected as pseudoscience by astronomers and plane-
tary scientists.
The idea of the Nibiru encounter originated with
Nancy Lieder, a Wisconsin woman who claims that
as a girl she was contacted by gray extraterrestri-
als called Zetas, who implanted a communications device in her brain. In 1995, she founded the website
ZetaTalk to disseminate her ideas.
Lieder described Planet X as roughly four times the
size of the Earth, and said that its closest approach would occur on May 27, 2003, resulting in the Earth's
rotation ceasing for exactly 5.9 terrestrial days. This
would be followed by the Earth's pole destabilising in
a pole shift (a physical pole shift, with the Earth's pole physically moving, rather than a geomagnetic
reversal) caused by magnetic attraction between the
Earth's core and the magnetism of the passing planet. This in turn would disrupt the Earth's magnetic core
and lead to subsequent displacement of the Earth's
crust.
Although Lieder originally referred to the object as "Planet X", it has become deeply associated
with Nibiru, a planet from the works of ancient astro-
naut proponent Zecharia Sitchin.
Astronomers reject the idea of Nibiru, and have made
efforts to inform the public that there is no threat to Earth in 2012. They point out that such an object so
close to Earth would be easily visible to the naked
eye, as Jupiter and Saturn are both visible to the na-ked eye. A planet such as Nibiru would create notice-
able effects in the orbits of the outer planets.

Do you know your Guardian Angel?
Every one of us has a special Guardian Angel that watches over us. Our Guardian Angel is a gift given to us from God to help us embody and express the highest gifts of our soul throughout our lifetime. They are our constant companions that help guide and protect us. One important fact that we must recognize is that our Guardian Angel respects our free will. Our Angels are al-ways around us working to help us but the majority of the time we are to preoccupied with our own worries or con-cerns, desires, and thoughts that we do not pay attention to them. Angels are vessels of God’s love and Grace. They bring the loving care of God to us in a form that we can access in our daily lives. Our Guardian Angel is given to us at the time of our birth and remains with us until the time of our death. Our Guardian Angel is chosen by the day of our birth. If you were born on a Sunday, then your Guardian An-gel is St. Michael the Archangel, the Prince of Heavenly Hosts.
