The Lil Ford That Could

A little Ford had a big Dodge Cummins to pull. He was
pulling very well till he come to a big hill. But then no
matter how hard he tried he keep spinning his tires. He
could not move the Cummins, he pulled and he
pulled. He spit and he sputtered.
He backed up and started pulling again. He chirped and he chirped! But no the Cummins would not go
up the Hill. Finally, he left the Cummins and went up the hill
alone. Do you think he quit working?
No, indeed! He was going for back up.
“Surely I can find someone to help me,” he thought.
Over the hill and up the road went the Lil Ford.
Clunk, clunk! Clunk! Chunk! Clunk, clunk! Clunk!
Very soon he saw a big Duramax sitting on the side of the road.
He looked very big and powerful. He perked beside, he looked up and said; “Will you give me a hand over the hill with this Cummins? It’s too heavy and powerful, I can’t get it
over.”
The big Duramax looked down at the Lil Ford.
Then he said, “Don’t you see I’m a Chevy and gutless? I
have been rotting away and beat. I’m ready to get junked.
No, I cannot help you.”
The Lil Ford was sorry for asking a Chevy, but, he went on, Beep, beep! Beep, beep!
Beep, beep! Beep, beep! Soon he came to another big Duramax sitting on the side of the road. He was
smoking and smoking, as if he was about to blow up.
“That big Duramax may still help me,” thought the Lil Ford.
He pulled up beside him and asked, “Could you help me get this Cummins up
the hill? It’s too heavy and powerful I can’t get it over.”
The other big Duramax answered, “I have just driven in from far, far away. Didn’t you see how many
miles I drove? Can’t you find someone else to help you this
time?” “I’ll try,” said the Lil Ford, and off
he went. Beep, beep! Beep, beep! Beep,
beep! After a little while, he came to a Lil Ford just like himself.
He pulled up beside him and said, “Could you help me over the hill
with my Cummins? It is too heavy and powerful, I can’t get it over.” “Yes, anytime,” said this Lil Ford. I’ll be glad to help you, if I can.” So the Lil Ford started back to where the Cummins had been
sitting.
Both Lil Fords went to pull the Cummins up the hill, one pulling and
one pushing. Chirp, Chirp, Chirp off they go!
Slowly the Cummins started to move. Slowly they pulled it up the steep hill. As they pulled, each Lil Ford began to
sing, “I-know-I-can! I-know-I-can! I-know-I-can! I-know-I-can! I-know-I-can! I-know-I-can! I-know-I-can! I-
know-I-can! I-know-I-can! –” and they did!
Very soon they made it over the hill and were going down to the bottom. Now they were on flat
ground and the Lil Ford could pull the Cummins himself.
So he thanked the other Lil Ford who had come to help him, and
said good-bye. He went happily on his way
singing. . .
I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could! I-knew-I-could!
