• Qi products must implement safety features to prevent– Metal objects getting hot
– Mobile phones getting hot
– Generating high voltages in mobile phones and other products
• Non-certified products can be a safety hazard
• The product in the example doesn’t report received power correctly and disables foreign object detection.
How to recognize a certified product
• Method 1: By the Qi logo
• Logo is allowed only on certified products
• Simple, but not very secure because the logo can easily be copied.

• Issued by the WPC
• Valid only if the URL and QR code link to the same product on the WPC website

• Method 3: Look up in the on-line Qi registration database
• Product is certified only when
a) Brand name, and
b) Product name, and
c) Type number
are in the on-line database
