The Diference between Asian and Western Cultures
These two vastly varying cultures have been long established since the
early hours of history. This is because back then, geographical conditions
separated these two cultures. Thus, as mankind reached modernisation and
made contact with both sides, we can see the dierence and contrast in theirways of life.
Often these cultures are in contrast and conicted, but there are also
some similarities that we can distinguish from them. First of all, both of these
cultures have their meal mostly with carbohydrate-classed food. For eample,
the !sian culture"s staple food is rice# meanwhile the $estern culture"s staple
food is bread. !s we can observe both of these food are from the carbohydrate
class.
%oving along, we can see one of the most noticeable things that
distinguish both of these cultures are the way on how parents raise theirospring. &n !sian culture, legalism is often practiced as many !sian parents
insist that discipline can only be achieved by strict discipline. %eanwhile on the
$estern side, legalism is frowned upon, and may even get you thrown in 'ail(
They consider it as domestic abuse, and deem it as too harsh for the child. The
western parents usually raise their child by setting up set rules and curfews, 'ust
like !sian parents. )evertheless, if the children break said curfew or rules, the
parents don"t punish them physically. &nstead, they would be *grounded" where
some of the child"s privileges are suspended for a certain time.
&n a nutshell, we can conclude that the dierence of both cultures is verynoticeable. +owever, we should not be afraid of such dierence, as these
dierences are the things that gives variety to the world. &n my opinion we
should all accept and respect each other"s culture and tradition. !fter all, we are
all human beings living on a piece of rock revolving around a star amongst
million and millions of other suns and galaies in space.
