Free Maps Tell Texas Highway Road Condition
Every two weeks a highway road condition bulletin will be issued as a special service to the motoring public, D. C. Greer, State Highway Engineer, announced recently in Austin.
“We are spending a large amount of money for maintenance and reconstruction this year and feel that motorists should be provided with information on the location of these projects for driving convenience, economy, and safety,” he said.
Greer explained that these road conditions will be reflected on a small map showing the principal highways with symbols indicating the location §nd type of construction that would be encountered on various routes. These road condition bulletins, he continued, will assist motorists in steering clear of construction work and as a result, keep traffic at a minimum through construction areas. This will enable highway maintenance workers to complete a job in a minimum time with a maximum of safety.
Greer said that these road condition bulletins are available free in the Highway District Offices and Travel Information Bureaus, or they can be obtained direct by writing the Traffic Services Division of the Highway Department in Austin.

Brig. General Robert W. Colgla- zier, Jr., of San. Antonio has been designated as the Army’s Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for plans and programing.
A graduate of San Antonio public schools, General Colglazier received his B.S. degree in civil engineering at A&M in 1925. He served throughout the European theater in World War II, went back into civilian life in 1947 and then was called back to active duty here at the Pentagon in 1951. He is a specialist in logistics.
Baylor’s outstanding halfback, Jerry Goody, recently conducted a revival near Waco. Later this summer, Goody will preach in Tulsa and Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

A French film with English titles, the anti-war screen play is
French Fare Nextbased oh the highly dramatic story of a group of French prisoners in a German prison camp during World War I, with a subtle analysis of the class and national backgrounds of each character, brought out through excellent performances by various members of the cast.
After Monday’s showing, there
will be a lapse of three weeks until the showing of “Berkley Square,” with Leslie Howard and Heather Angel on August 17, Boriskie said. That film will be followed by “Arsenic And Old Lace” on August 20 and “Julius Caesar” on August 27. These films complete the summer showings, he added.
